Gathje's Debut was crazy. His First ever Fight in the UFC was a MAIN EVENT and was awarded FIGHT OF THE NIGHT, PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT & later 2017 FIGHT OF THE YEAR. That's a record no one could take away from him.

For those who don't know, Jose Aldo came from the WEC after it was absorbed by the UFC, so although he was champion in said promotion, in his debut he was champion already.

I feel like Justin's leg kicks were even more effective back in the day since he's always in the pocket and he would kinda land them in boxing range, it's harder to land from range with no set up, specially if its a muay thai fighter like Olives.

He was the WEC featherweight champion when UFC bought WEC and merged it. So he was crowned the champion of the division by default and defended it on his debut.

The Anderson Silva Debut is more of a statement match. It kinda says "I'm Anderson Silva and I will obliterate the whole division. So be ready". That'll be the most impressive debut of any fighter of any class in any promotion in any circumstance or in any form. He's just the GOAT. TBE y'all.

So Anderson Silva fought a male Juliana Pena. It's not hard to imagine that Jon and Anderson fought and succeeded in the era where the fighters weren't as skilled as they are today. There only good a handful of great fighters in that era. Hardly anyone tactical though. The performances that fighters give at 135lbs - 170lbs is the best MMA that we see. MW is okay. LWH and HW suck at present. Talking about UFC here.
