Wrestling is not the same at light heavy weight as it is in light weight. Ankalaev is smaller, he is evidently physically weaker than Alex, he will tire himself out getting Pereira down more than anything. Ankalaev last fights are kind of suspect anyway, only the Johnny Walker was decisive.

Honestly I wish jiri or jahmall hill have fought ankeleav it was help me gauge better but I believe alex will still suprise a lot of people since his first fight when he moved up was jan blachowickz and alex faired very well not to mention we have not got to see alex or ankaleavs grappling really because they both have not had to use it. Only thing is people forget ankeleav has real power in his punches and kicks and is usually defensively sound. Its just most of his opponents have those qualities. For all we know alex could sublit ankeleav it is five rounds after all.

Why they talk about Ankalaev like a wrestler phenom when I’ve never saw him wrestle, I saw Craig submit him in the last 5 seconds of the last round, definitely not a high level wrestler like Islam or Khabib. Pereira might just get him out of there, but Ankhalaev is a good and strong striker not wrestler, so that’s his actual plan, to undermine his striking with fear of takedowns.
