I'm no expert BUT.... In 1979 and 80 i was injured in a car crash and doctors triaged me as dying ftom shattered pelvis and actually fractured everying else. Pelvis wasn't repaired and was told a month later that i would never walk again. "Get used to it". I later was "adopted" by a Asian sensei/Master. Not THAT old dude, a year younger than me. Here's the tip for any athlete but would especially serve these guys if they're not doin this one thing... I was taught to make a noise when throwing a punch, most martial artists do it. Why? Because it's impossible to make the noise of your choice without tightening your diaphragm and pushing air. Try it no matter what type of exertion you are undertaking. It will add an appreciable amount of force to a punch, weight lift or a hit in football. Great for football. Just take a cleansing breath then fairly deep breath and hold.... Then explode while pushing that breath from your center, or diaphragm. Remember the grunt or whatever noise you're comfortable with. Did all that work for me? After a total year i walked like i today at 69. Except for cancer surgery last month, Nov 2023 and back surgery next month, Feb 2024, i would still be in mission capable condition for my time as a military contractor in several countries. Over 40yrs of law enforcement, medic, personal security for many famous folks and government big shots but mainly the contracting. Hey, I'm available. Just give me a day or two to get my core endurance back up a bit. I was also taught how to block pain, speed healing and even regrow damaged nerves. To find new pathways for the nerve connections.
