One of the saddest things about brain damage in combat sports is that when you get to know some fighters on a more personal level you realize there are a lot of them who are actually very smart guys. At least in this slap thing everyone is dumb af so is not that much of a waste their brain getting made into a mush

I don't think they're dumb. They just needed more opportunities when they were growing up. Jesus Gaspar and Michael Smith, aka the first two guys, seem like regular dudes who are lost in life. On one side, one dude only has his mother. On the other, dude is trying to give his kids a better life. They're risking their health to give their loved ones a better life. I can't call them dumb for that... I can only feel bad that they're willing to get CTE for that.

There is brain damage in every combat sport. All of them. With this sport you get max 3 slaps a day. Most combat sports they get hit on their head for at least 10 times. Matches are also longer. The outrage you have over slap power is the same outrage people had over MMA UFC.

This will always be unfair because one gets to start without being able to defend and it just repeats from there. The people involved are desperate.

Boxing and UFC are close but still nowhere close! These guys are literally asking for their brain damage to be served on a silver platter! At least UFC you can defend yourself and both you and your opponent can end the fight with a tap!

I don’t think this ends well for Dana. My instincts tell me this causes more long term damage than boxing or MMA potentially. You are taking every hit without any defence. Not rolling the slap like boxers do, no guard up, no head movement. Just standing target hits! That’s the reason why a lot of fights get waved off because a boxer has just become a stationary target

This episode is just so wholesome. Apart from all the mixed reactions from this new sport, i think what's amazing to see is that most guys here do it for their family. It's a bunch of guys who had gone through some tough shit, and took this chance to redeem themselves. It's so heartwarming to see them talking about their lives, and even opening up to one another which i doubt its easy to talk about these things when you gotta look tough on the outside.

@@popp45murf They believe this sport is gonna get bigger to the point they can make idk, 10k per fight as a top guy. "Only" 10 fights a year and they're making 6 digits. But this is assuming they become relevant and that this sport gets more recognition. Anyway, I feel bad for them. They definitely wouldn't be doing this if there were better opportunities. Crazy that a rich country "forces" some citizens to do shit jobs for a better life.

The first episode was kinda brutal because they didn't have a lot teaching about how to do the thing... It was almost like dudes throwing punches at each other. When you see guys like Darius and wolverine competing, you see that it's not that brutal... They went 20 rounds + one time.

A tip for Dana White and this sport in general, remove the damn unfair coin toss and implement something else. For example the fighters get to hit a slap messuring bag and the one getting the highest number gets to start or something. Having so much haniging on a cointoss is just weird in a serious sporting competition.
