Robbie Lawler’s last fight couldn’t have been any more perfect. Walking out to the best ost ever (The Last or the Mohicans), getting the flawless first round finish, the tribute and respect from the fans, Buffer, Rogan, everyone and to finally see one of the most stoic, hardcore warriors finally crack some emotion after 21 years in the game. I remember watching early UFC way back when and seeing a young Robbie put in work. I’m the same age as my dad and his friends when they introduced me to him and the sport back then. I got to see this live last night, and man, what an amazing thing to see how much this man is loved. On my way to the arena in my uber my driver told me he had some fighter in his car the night before "he said he's retiring tomorrow"...my head snaps and I look straight at him and I say "Ruthless Robbie Lawler!" He proceeds to tell me how humble and respectful Robbie was during his short ride. This man deserved the fairytale ending. It was an honor watching that go down.

What a sad day for the UFC! What an amazing way to end such a badass career. To return to the UFC, to win the belt, always be a badass, score a brutal KO on his last fight, and always be a fan favorite. There will never be another Robbie Lawler!!!

@@vodoumyers At the same time while the greats of yesteryear are getting old and are retiring, new MMA greats come along and establish legacies of their own. Alexander Volkanovski is becoming one of the GOATs of this sport in just a few short years. One day he'll be remembered as a legend and be inducted into the Hall of Fame, just like Robbie Lawler.

We hear "legend" thrown around all the time. But Robbie is TRULY a legend and a pioneer of MMA. It's amazing that he has been in the UFC since 2002, and had an unexpected resurgence 12 years later to become champ.

Thank you so much for giving us the best fights that the Welterweight division has to offer. I still remember watching him making his comeback to the UFC by knocking out Josh Koscheck... I said to myself "oh, shit. Robbie means business!" Fast forward a couple years later, he achieves the UFC gold! It was definitely an honor following his career, and I hope he enjoys his retirement, he deserves it! Truly a legend, and one of my favorite fighters of all time.

Robbie always displayed so much courage. He went toe to toe with so many killers. He took horrible injuries and shed a lot of blood in the Octagon. But he never once seemed frightened or unsure of himself. Robbie stepped in and brought the fight every single time and that is why we love and respect him so much. Enjoy retirement, Ruthless!

Man its "elementary" to make a career highlight package for most mma vets, but this reel is so good that it makes it seem difficult to put together a good one for anyone, even Robbie. Like that time an old drunk Englishman came outside the pub to fix my bicycle because he said it would be "elemen-trie." He truly made me believe it was impossible. Legend. To this day I wonder what happened to that bicycle. And shout-out to Robbie, too!
