Condit just had the misfortune of coming up when Welterweight was an absolute frickin murderer's row. In another era he probably would have been champion. But he just happened to be in the era of GSP, and prime Robbie Lawler. And even then he was still competitive with pretty much anybody in UFC.

I remember watching this fight with my Dad back then on TV 2016 saturday night, feels like yesterday. Time really flies. One of the best fights in UFC history period. 2024 My dad is no more, watching this brings me some good memories.

That hits me hard, I use to go to the game (football here in the uk) often with my dad around 2015 to 2017, and while he is here in body, he's not here in mind, he had a stroke years ago and can't remember anything anymore, of course I don't wish him passed on, but it's very hard man. Sending my love to you, I still tell my dad I love him everytime I see him, and it always surprises him.

This title fight along with having a great opportunity to finish GSP in their title fight makes its hard not to feel disappointed for Condit. He was about as close as you could get to winning a UFC title without achieving it. The guy was always a gamer even going back to his WEC days and I think not getting the nod is this fight took the hunger out of him.

30 min video for one round of MMA worth watching. Four rounds of watching Lawler LARP as Rocky just getting beat on for four rounds before he actually fought back, and worse, the judges gave him the belt after that performance. Condit out worked him 5 strikes to 1, dominated him for 4 rounds and gave as good as he got when Lawler went into desperation mode. He got robbed.

@@tootiredforthis1 I hear you. Lawler Macdonald 2 is iconic, but IMO I think Lawler Condit overall is a crazier fight. The first two rounds of Lawler Macdonald 2 are a little slow, and then it gets crazy near the end of the third round. In the Lawler Condit fight, crazy shit happened in every round. Condit momentarily rocks and drops Lawler in the first, Lawler drops Condit in the second, third round is very close, Condit rocks Lawler and tees off on him against the fence at the end of round 4, and Lawler throws an onslaught of punches on a tired Condit in the fifth

This is one of the closest fights in MMA history and I think it's fitting that it gets uploaded after Strickland vs DDP. I heard a lot of people thought Condit won, and though I thought Lawler won at the time I definitely can see people giving it to Condit. Razor-thin margin where both fighters literally gave everything they had. UFC please put this fight in the Hall of Fame.

Great fight. I love Robbie, but Carlos deserved the belt around his waist on this night. It must be heartbreaking to put on the fight of a lifetime and not walk out with the belt. He was just never on this level again after that. Still, one of the best welterweights ever in my opinion. Not to mention, one of the toughest. 46 fights - never knocked out.

Remember saw it live and my heart broke when Lawler got the decision. I was certain Condit won the fight. Still can't process the loss and Condit was mentally broken after the fight, never the same. To this day it pains me that NBK was never a ufc undisputed champ.

Had condit winning 1,3, and 4 imo under todays rule set. Dont know how important octagon control was before but i would say that round 3 is the only one that classifies as a real swing round. As dumb as I think last second optics are, the harder shots were landed by Robbie in the 5 round despite condit doing well for about 3 minutes. Tough. Condit should have had a belt but it isn’t a robbery, just kind of a bad call (in today’s rules).

I love Lawler, but Condit should have got the unanimous decision. Giving Lawler rd 5 and arguably maybe the round mid way through, with the knock down. Even that round when Lawler knocked down Condit I had it as a 9-9.
