@shanesollis8029
@shanesollis8029 7 жыл бұрын
I've done this on a very small level. It takes real guts to step in the octagon with a seasoned fighter like Gall, and actually believe at Punk's age and skill level that you have a chance to win. I trained with a guy named Bill Jones, who was 5th in the world in goju ryu. I wasn't a guy that had never fought before, but I had never seen anything like that before. He was amazing. He locked me up and squeezed the life out of me. I got choked out over and over; like a thousand plus times i was caught in one bad position or another. It took me months of training to survive a round or two. I was training at the level of a world-class athlete at that time in my life. This guy would use all my speed and strength against me. Finally, one day I rolled my hips and caught him in an arm bar. I know what it is like to go against someone daily (in real full-contact matches) with someone who is truly world-class. Anyone with any sense knows he can't beat a BJJ Brown Belt. Quite frankly, I felt like the loser of the Gall vs Jackson (I think was dude's last name) should've been the one to fight Phil Brooks. I mean, if the other guy was a tomato can, maybe Punk would stand a better chance and you could at the least milk him for a few fights against tomato cans. He would probably still lose a couple fights even to hand-picked tomato cans, but maybe he would get a win in there somewhere. I feel this killed his wrestling career. I know wrestling is a show, and it isn't like he was the best fighter in the world; but, when your gimmick is "Best in the World," losing badly in a real fight ruins that slogan. Hopefully, Punk's humbling defeat shows everyone just how awesome Brock Lesnar is. People have told me they thought he didn't do that good in the UFC. Are you kidding? He won the belt. I don't care if he lost some fights. It takes someone special to win at all against the level of fighters Lesnar faced. But, why would you give Punk a guy that can not just beat him, but beat actual UFC fighters like Sage? They should've given him the easiest fight he could get.

I actually do wonder if he has significantly improved since this was filmed in early 2015. I say that because look at the way they are setting this show up. Two episodes in he looks awful. Horrible. A laughing stock. BUT it was 15 months ago. Anyone, no matter what, will improve at something if they train at it over 15 months. I have a feeling they are editing this program this way intentionally and he is now significantly better. They are intentionally lowering expectations. Don't get me wrong, I expect him to lose. But I have a feeling it's not going to be as bad as it looks through these first two episodes. And this is intentional for dramatic effect.

From an Australian, There is a guy called Jarryd Hayne who wasn't challenged by the sport he was playing anymore and he always wanted to have a crack at NFL. Instead of calling him a pretender and an idiot almost everyone supported his motivation and willingness to try something new. He put in a huge effort and made some progress but now he is back in rugby league. He didn't quite make it but everyone still admires him for following his dream. CM Punk is almost the exact same scenario so congratulations to him and good luck! Personally i really hope he shuts all the doubters up

He's definitely better now, at this point he was not good he couldn't sprawl or defend a choke or strike at all, but he's been steadily developing, and now that he's developed into someone better who has proper knowledge of what a fight really truly entails, he has a chance. The pressure that everyone puts on him would be hard, he'd just have to not listen to anybody who shares their opinion of the potential outcome with him, it's all about listening to yourself now and not letting the opinions and beliefs of others dictate your potential in the moment ya know? I think he'll be alright, this is old footy- he HAS to have gotten better.

I understand that this footage was shot a year ago, but there is only so much improvement a guy in his late 30's can make in that amount of time. From the film I saw here, I am confident that I could have wrecked CM Punk in a boxing or kickboxing fight, and maybe even in mma (and I've never trained grappling btw) when they shot this. I am by no means an advanced striker, I would hardly call myself decent, but CM Punk is terrible, just terrible. He seems like a pretty cool guy, I really hope he gets his shit together enough to at least avoid utter humiliation.

Michael Vin Brock was a div 1 national champion, so he had a great wrestling base. Punk isn't close to that. That's why it is taking so long for his first fight. He needs a lot of training. Plus, Brock fought Frank his first fight and he was a lot tougher opponent than what Punk is facing.

Lesnar had no skills.He was just a big,strong wrestler who was also on steroids.He had no stand up,he was also not good at taking a shot.He got a title shot after two fights,one of which he lost.He was/is a joke.Punk might not win his debut fight but I think he will bring more to the table than Lesnar did.I could be wrong though.

Jack Pettingill They are not really sparring, this is more like a demo, the guy he`s fighting does not even switch stances on him, because he probably would not even know what to do to adjust to someone doing that, he`s just letting CM simulate getting into the pocket and how it is exchanging punches there, im sure he could easily keep him on the outside and just destroy him if he wanted too, its kind of baffeling that his coach calls this "sparring" its not
