Watching it again, it's not that clear to me that Johnson was winning. He landed more, but Emmett was landing the heavier shots in every round.

Emmett came back from serious injuries + surgeries and had ring rust in that fight, also when your strat is to go for a 1 punch KO you tend to sometimes spend time making reads and losing rounds to eventually land that one big shot.

Not at all. He’s top 10, but not one of the hardest. A lot of people have been able to absorb his power, where for instance with Ngannou no one has, besides Ciryl Gane.

Some 15 years ago, Josh Emmett would've been a UFC champion. The skill level wasn't at the level it is now. Josh is big, strong and has ko power. The problem is that guys like Topuria and Volkanovski have all that plus a higher fight IQ.

It's more about marketability, he has the skills to win any fight but UFC never did him any favors with matchmaking, if they want you to be a champ they give you an easy path there (Diego Lopes might be champ this week after less than 2 years in the UFC). This is an entertainment product, he's a orcish looking guy and pushing 40 who doesn't talk shit, they would much rather push someone like Diego Lopes who's young and marketable in Mexico.

If you look through emmets career you will find that anyone who keeps their hands up doesn’t get kod by Josh emmet (Bryce had his hands down) Lerone Merphy is very defensively sound and hard to hit and he only got dropped by Dan ige because he went southpaw (not his preferred stance ) and fighters tend to be more defensively sound in their peffered stance , im quite confident Murphy by decision
