Very McGregor esq, and not just because he's Irish. Slides back and to the open side, immediately counters with the right. Classic southpaw vs orthodox styled counter that McGregor does well, except it's from orthodox.

That Aljo submission was pretty slick... I don't think I've seen someone reach back and grab the leg/ankle to keep themselves from falling over the back.

That was a Suvalev Stretch, right? I think Zabit did it to someone the same night. Principle is to break your opponent's base. All that control based wrestlers that keep pulling their opponent's arm out as they try to tripod up are essentially doing the same thing.

That submission (sometimes called a suloev stretch and sometimes called a bananna split, depending on a few things) has happened three times in the UFC and two of them happened on that night. Aljo did it and then like three fights later Zabit pulled it out too

Suloev Stretch. Crazy thing is that only 2 have been done in the UFC, and they both happened on the same night. First by Sterling, then by Zabit.

Suloev stretch, a rare submission which requires a lot of skill to pull off. Unfortunately Zabit pulled off another Suloev stretch on the exact same night, completely overshadowing Aljo's win and was robbed of a performance bonus.

Was watching UFC 1, 2, 3 etc... just the other day. I love me some good Knockouts.... .... and WOW!!! Just look how far the UFC has come. The fighter's, the talent, the skill level, the commentating etc... Just WOW! I wonder how Fighter's like Tank Abbot (with insane one punch KO power) and Royce Gracie, would have done in their prime, right now today (2022) knowing what we know now about mma? Can you imagine "Tank" under some of the coaches we have today? ATT, AKA, Jackson/Wink etc.... Can you Imagine "Tank" under Greg Jackson or Trevor Wittman?.... as a young fighter. I actually saw Ken Shamrock at the UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, La. He picked up the guy from his back, slammed the guy (SHIT! can't remember who he fought) on his shoulder and broke his collarbone.... fight over quick in the first round.

Idk about him specifically, but those submissions on average put people out for many many months if not over a year. Whether its the hamstring tear, or an mcl/acl tear
