Leon's victory was so epic

Leon's round 4 corner pep talk and eventual head kick to win the belt is iconic. One of the greatest moments in any fight discipline

That edwards finish will never not give me goosebumps, from his corner to the commentary, perfection

The Prochazka/Teixeira fight was absolutely magnificent. Back and forth for 25 minutes. A true work of art. Adesanya also fought beautifully against Pereira but Poatan is something different. Leon landed the best strike of the year. MMA is amazing.

The respect between Prahazka and Texeira is off the charts. A thing of beauty.

Glover and Jiri fight is one of my all time favorites, awesome performances. Pereira definitively winning the title was awesome too.

Leons corner moment still gives me chills every time I see it, the emotion his coach is screaming in his face with, his hands shaking, he knew he had to lit the fire inside his fighter and he couldnt have done it any better

Jiri vs Teixeira was indeed a legendary fight full of twists. What a fight, looking forward to what Jiri can show next.

8:07 is exactly what a good corner is for. They rallied Leon when he needed it most and he went out and beat the best on the planet. Legendary.

That Leon headkick...he was an underdog title challenger who was losing the majority of his fight to the dominant champ and then he comes back at the last minute of the last round and lands a perfect headkick that knocked out Kamaru Usman. So inspiring and to see him after the fight face timing his mom and son and crying was such a tear jerker. It's moments like this is why I love this sport.

Head shot...done!!! Leon's head-shot was poetry in motion throwing out the right hand to distract usman from the kick...beautiful..

The way Leon set up that head kick was masterful. Switches stance, feints a kick a couple of times to gauge Usman's reaction mixed in with a couple of jabs and a low kick. See's Usman isn't concerned about a high kick and WHAM lights out. That has to be a blueprint for a head kick.

Gotta respect Teixeira he lost his title this year but supported Alex threw the whole fight and cheered for him the most. Love to see the support from the team

The Glover vs Jiri fight was phenomenal. 100% agree with what Joe Rogan said, these 2 guys dragged each other to hell. It's the MMA equivalent of Ali v Frazier's Thrilla in Manila. Izzy vs Poatan is just as crazy, the composure of Alex is just out of this world

Pereira's and Leon's KOs were very impressive. To go through adversity, be tired and still come out on top!

i seriously loved the amount of sportmanship between jiri and glover. usually we just get a quick glove touch at the end but what they did was truly a sign of real admiration and respect

The timing of the commentary, the dominance of the champion, the record for undefeated streak on the line, the corner advice at the end of r4, the literal last minute head kick ko of a fight that he was about to lose, the post fight interview, the backstage footage of him on a call to his mum........Holy shit. It just doesn't get better.

Sometimes Anik is a god tier commentator. Pushing back on dc and joe in that moment with such an earnest view of edwards. Almost like it inspired him to throw that kick. Beautiful. Keep that guy on the mic forever.

Its rare to see such a back and forth fight like the jiri glover fight. That was peak fun.

Leon’s sequence of the comeback, head kick, the speech, the quote, the back stage call with his mom, the emotion I felt for leon was insane not knowing him at all personally but it’s obvious how hard he’s worked to get there. My fav story in the ufc.

Glover Texeira...What an absolute legend, and all time class act. To see him brutalize Jiri for most of that fight (and I'm a Jiri fan), only to lose in the last minute. And then to see him as the first person in the cage to lift and congratulate Pereira on his last round title win, just amazing. So glad he's gonna be able to fight for the "vacant" 205 belt in Brazil. Crazy, and unfortunate Ank and Jan fought to a draw, but he deserves this next chance for real....

I love the first fight for one reason alone. The complete respect they show to each other. That’s what I was taught when training in martial arts and I feel like it has been lost a bit in mma. There are some that still truly respect the art but there are a lot more that don’t.

Its awesome that Glover was a part of 2 huge title fights and 2 of the best fights in 2022.. Hated to see him lose his belt, but at least he played a huge role in Alex winning his

The izzy perira fight is a sight to behold, pereira kept chipping away izzy with powerful legs and bodyshot, no one has ever gotten izzy so tired in the 5th round. The body shots were unbelievably powerful I think that is what really won him the match.

If you are an mma fan, this was the year of upsets and a year of some of the most insane match ups and turn outs. Absolutely amazing year for all us, and terrible year for Trevor Whitman. 😂

You had the whole ngannou situation at the start You had volkanovski cement his greatness You had jiri win with arguably the greatest fight in history, definitely the greatest fight I’ve ever seen in including replays You had leon winning the way that he did, THE REAL LIFE ROCKY You had Islam becoming the champion in the dominant way that he did, continuing the dagestani stranglehold on the most competitive division And finally Peirera ended adesanyas dominant reign, being the ghost that haunted adesanya who followed him from another sport Just wow what a year to be a fan

Honestly I could eat my words with all the champs being fresh BUT we might have seen the best year the UFC has ever had to offer. It's not just the amount of titles that changed hands but the quality of them. These guys have held the title for years and they all meet a demise in the same year. Thank you UFC for the incredible year and I hope I eat my words and next year is just as mind blowing, gonna be HARD though.
