On episode 1 of UFC 178 Embedded, the Notorious Conor McGregor makes himself at home in Las Vegas, joining UFC president Dana White to watch Mark Hunt’s KO of Roy Nelson live from Tokyo. While the Irishman enjoys the perks of his early Vegas arrival, his UFC 178 opponent, 5th ranked featherweight Dustin Poirier, wraps up a successful training camp in South Florida, confident that he’s the man to derail McGregor’s hype train. UFC Embedded is an all-access, behind-the-scenes video blog series focusing on the days leading up to the epic UFC 178 fight card, Saturday, September 27, on Pay-Per-View.

william stroud Thats the thing....he isn't being real...if you wanna see a real Conner watch this on youtube. "Areil Helwani walk around Dublin with McGregor." He is real in this. And i understand selling tickets, BUT why be a bastard to others, WHY be so disrespectful? why talk down to people? what does he have in common with the average hard working Irish man? nothing! with the way he lives, conducts himself and acts?....there is nothing relate-able or likeable about arrogance to normal people, most people [unlike yourself] do not like or gravitate towards fighters like conner who are CLEARLY self absorbed to a fault. he needs to be FUCKED UP afew times and reel his neck in...as many others have said. SICK OF HIS BULLSHIT. watch that video,ive told you of! Then you tell me which conner you prefer ? the fake one youve been fed? or the real conner? get back to me

Dustin has many openings. He needs to be level headed going into this fight. Conor is highly effective against aggressive fighters who close in quickly. Conor isn't stupid either. His observations on Poirer haven't been wrong. Dustin overcommits a lot of times, which has resulted in him being rocked in several fights, and that's not something you wanna do against McGregor's crisp counters. His unorthodox stance/style is also offsetting. I see Conor taking this. But I hope Dustin gives him the fight of his life. That's a good experience
@oisind1234
@oisind1234 10 жыл бұрын
The only way to hit Conor hard is on the counter. I reckon the only way Dustin has a chance is if he stays back forcing Conor to commit. But yeah if Dustin over commits he's fucked.
@bunbreath
@bunbreath 10 жыл бұрын
oisind1234 Actually Dustin fights better in the clinch. If Dustin stays back I'd give the advantage to the highly technical striking of Conor but if Dustin can close the distance then I think he'll take it. Either way both of these guys always put on a good show, can't wait for the fight
@jozsefkacsa
@jozsefkacsa 10 жыл бұрын
oisind1234 Don't forget Dustin's Grappling either he's been Grappling with Legit Black Belts sinc 16 yrs old and he 'still "only Brown Belt" He's a smart kid and I'm sure his "brown belt level" is higher than many Black belts in the UFC.I believe Poirier got this and he will surprise everyone finishing McGregor fast! He obviously cannot handle being choked,he most likely Claustrophobic.Watch the videos of his losses! Both came from decent grapplers,and he tapped as soon as they locked in! He did not even try,to get out of the. he's tje type of guy who',very strong and sure of himself,but when he get's into trouble he dunno how to handle himself,we seen that,against Holloway,he was just staying on top of him holding him down,than after at the presser was saying:'I should of,ripped my leg off and beat him with it".But in the fight,he did not know what to do,because his training for being ahead in the fight at all the times.He don't believe the opponent can hurt him get ahead of him.and when it happens he's fucked! If Holloway had stronger mind he could of easily subbed him,there were openings,but all he did made sure,Connor can't land g&p;.See Poirier will surprise many saturday! You guys remember that!!!
@ArcticViking
@ArcticViking 10 жыл бұрын
jozsefkacsa About the holloway fight, What a bullshit answer, do your research man and watch the mcgregor vs holloway fight again. Holloway did not have any openings or opportunity to sub mcgregor, conor suffered a bad knee injury in 2th round and still dominated the fight. The only two losses of mcgregor came by sub 4 years and 6 years ago, this almost as stupid mention Jose Aldos loss 8 years ago. 4 to 6 years in fighter life is very long time, Conor in meanwhile as learned from those losses and dramatically improved is ground game. Conor main training partner for the last 6-7 years is Gunnar Nelson which by many is considered top 5 grapplers in ufc roster. I will remember your fight pick and remind you to eat your words after Conor beats dustin.

"Jesus loves knockouts" haha brilliant. I like that they touched on that. The idea that Jesus is helping guys to beat each other up is truly fucked up. Love Conor's talk on pre fight rituals too... basically it's a load of old bollocks and shows that some fighters need a crutch... whether that be praying to Jesus or putting their underpants on backwards. This guy has a great approach and philosophy to the sport. No nonsense and no bullshit. He'll be holding that belt in 2015. No doubt about it.

robfitz Did you watch Embedded for UFC 177 Barao vs. DIllashaw? They did this exact same thing. Barao being this poor guy from Brazil working his ass off day in day out just showing him train. And then they show TJ buying a boat and enjoying himself and "Absorbing all the Fame". But do you think for one minute that TJ doesnt work his ass off in that gym just as hard or harder then Barao? I guarantee you he does ive seen it. He even mentioned it when he watched the previous' day embedded, he said look at them making me out to be all up my own ass and Barao the hardworking Brazilian that has no fun. Its called Marketing dude. Dont believe this shit its just for Hype. So far Conor has looked absolutely great and he just might be that next great fighter, he surely has the attributes and character. But make no mistake,Dustin will still be the first real top fighter he has ever faced and he does pose a HUGE test for Conor. If Conor dispatches Poirier in the 1e round like he has before then I will believe the hype. I'm both fan of Conor and Poirier and man this is a extremely anticipated matchup for me.

@Stoogs he was eating 2 breakfasts every day for Fight week and he still couldn't reach 170 lol he was hella fat, plus went into the boxing match heavier, he won the 1st four and the sixth and the eighth round so Mcgregor beat Floyd 6-2 in 25mins, Real Fights don't have some bullshit ref who stops it early with no knockdown previous or present and they defo don't last 30plus minutes so therefore Mcgregor is the Proper King of Boxing. Mcgregors 25minutes is the proper 12, thought you guys would of figured that out. Probably have but the haters outweighed the fans after the fight. Fact.

Getting this awkward feeling when one side is chillin with the boss... i know them very little, but i think they look like nice guys both of them, love their aggressive style, like a new era of Wanderlei vs CroCop back in the days, hate to see them meet in the cage but well well, and the odd feeling after seeing this remains...

There's little more facepalmish than an American getting his or her European geography horrendously wrong
@TimothyDonaghue
@TimothyDonaghue 10 жыл бұрын
No European can give American geography either. I guarantee the average Euro cannot point to Idaho or Nebraska on a map. And yes, comparing states of the USA to European countries is valid. Many states are bigger, more densely populated, and have bigger economies than entire European countries.

You're missing the point. It's not the not knowing where stuff is that's amusing...it's the not knowing the difference in cultures. The difference in culture in Europe is way more vast than in the U.S (even more so if you're only looking at mainland U.S)
