@supreme wizard of jahanism exactly; they use these perks to justify it too and the fans and fighters themselves literally eat it up. Of course they invest it in but it’s only a fraction of the profits they make and it’s gets fighters, sorry athletes to the scales on weight.

@kgatlw91344 жыл бұрын
@@walterlippmann9496 They get paid what they're worth. Most of them aren't a draw, most UFC events aren't HUGE events, they rely on a handful of marquee events in a given year to bring in most of the money, they are a touring operation. Most of them fight 2-3 times a year, compare this to other sports where they compete x5-x30 as much. Most of them have no endorsable qualities so they don't make much outside the octagon compared to athletes in other sports. You probably have zero real business experience so don't appreciate that 20% revenue to fighters is a significant amount, the way the UFC is structured is massively different than fly-by-night boxing promotions. Other sports like NFL, soccer etc with swathes of highly paid athletes are bubbles waiting to burst, built on mountains of debt.

I was thinking the exact same thing. They've literally invested so much money into these processes to hydrate fighters after weigh-in, but they won't bring in hydration testing. It's literally insanity. They are praising their treatment of something that they could easily and totally prevent.

This is another reason why the UFC shouldn't have weight classes. What you're seeing is a dangerous process the athletes undergo just to get below a certain number on a scale. People have died doing that. The UFC had no weight classes for many years, as it was truly a competition to see who the best fighter was. Weight & size has nothing to do with being a skilled fighter. Joyce Gracie proved that. So why we force athletes to undergo these dangerous & unnecessary methods to drop pounds days before a fight & categorize them based on that number makes no sense to me. They glamorize it here with the music, interviews & transition effects, but its not this cool thing that should be celebrated.
