I genuinely love how much respect is shared between the two. At the same time, the self confidence the two fighters have is unbelieveable. Makes this truly feel like a 50/50 match up, especially knowing how much their styles differ from one another.

@@reptaiden Put it this way, Dustin has the advantage of tilting his focus toward Charles' strength. In training, Dustin has film review based countermeasures should he not succeed in clocking Charles and effectively winning by his own strengths. Having a more solid frame, his strikes have the most potential for damage. Weakening Charles while playing for the takedown, which will be the sign that Charles is hurt, is the road to Charles's defeated constitution. All due respect for Charles' skill sets, Dustin has harvested the determination only sown by defeat, aka the matchup with Khabib. By the way, that was a loss by submission. Is Charles' Khabib, you tell me? Odds: 5/3 in favor of Porier.

It's difficult to predict how Poirier or Oliveira will lose! Same for Gaethje, or Dariush, or Makhachev. There is also Chandler, who despite two losses is still considered dangerous. LW is full of champs at the moment. Looks like the days of Mcgregor and Ferguson are over!

Oliviera gets a lot of hate by people saying he quit but he didnt quit he had an esophagus injury which you can die from. I tore mine and was spitting up a lot of blood and its scary. Even then losing is so important and Oliviera has shown us that. Losses make you grow and he's become the top fighter in the division. Dont sleep on Oliviera or he'll sleep you for sure.

The only thing I worry about with Dustin is the submission game of Olivera. Unlike mcgregor when he pulled guillotine against the cage, Olivera will not give him the chance to use the cage. He will have to use what khabib did but a lot faster because Olivera will not make the mistake that Dustin did. He will use both legs to hold him in place.

@Karamjeet Bedi Khabib did not particularly struggle in taking Poirier down, and neither did Alvarez... and Dan Hooker. Plus, McGregor had that neck tight until Poirier was able to free himself from it. Guarantee if Oliveira takes it like that, it's a wrap then and there.

Man this is one of those dream matches where you can't tell who will win and by what method. Dustin wrestling is better than Oliveira and in the ground Oliveira is the better man but in striking we can't tell it is Dustin. Charles striking is also technical and very precise. Let's see who will win. But let whatever the result is these two represent mma at a high level. Respect for both dudes

feel the same. Dustin is tougher and can absorb more hits than Chandler. Don't think Oliveira can KO him in standup. But Oliveira is very dangerous on the ground, skill level almost like Khabib, though the style is different. But of course, Oliveira is not physically as strong as Khabib. So Dustin might get out of his grip, which he couldn't against Khabib.

This is an intriguing contest, it really is. From a viewer's point of view the waiting and watching centers just around the competitive test for each and the bout without personality - or big personality, aspects of it - being present. In the anticipation and experience, viewer side. It's not that I don't like when personality is more present in the mix, and it's not that these guys don't have personality - they do, but they're both similar, rely on talk and expression less in their approach. So it's kind of neat that this match-up, type of fight has worked itself out, arrived for a title event this time. Adds to the overall variety of what has been a great season of UFC nights and entertainment these past months. For me anyway.

@@djfatfoe5223 Khabib will always be Dustin's hardest fight even if Charles manages to finish him earlier, because Khabib beat Dustin down to such an extent he broke him and gave him no hope he could ever comeback and pull through. When Khabib popped out of the guillotine, Dustin understandably gave up. Whereas if Charles subs him in the first or second round, it can be chalked up to either a bad night at the office or just getting caught especially if Dustin has plenty of success before that happens. Charles and Dustin are on a similar playing field, and both can win the fight. They're not fighting a scary, relentless grappling monster who never lost.

What a hell of a way to end the year if Dustin can pull it off. It would be the best way to end the sweetest year of his career. Beating Conor twice handily is sweet enough but getting that belt would be the icing on the cake.

Oliveira hasn't faced anyone with as good stand up, defensive BJJ and gas tank as Poirier. He's getting knocked out inside 3 rounds imo.

A mistake will change the fight...the betting guys will be crying to bet the right one... One of the most 50-50 fight .. I pick Poirier because he went 5 rounds and knows how to connect and punch with volume. A dog with vision. Poirier by TKO in 2nd Round

I think the more hungrier one is Dustin. Charles the more dangerous fighter tho. Charles handled Chandler's power within one round but Dustin volume punching I think will be too much for him if he'll keep the fight standing. It boils down to whether if Charles can takedown Dustin late in rounds.

@@SlimClipper the point being made has flown past your head tho. Point was, you can't gauge something that hasn't exactly been tested. Poirier has been submitted twice, once was a one in a million barbo choke by TKZ. The other is Khabib who let's face it, would tap everybody. Otherwise his grappling and TDD has been pretty darn good. And not to mention that just like how TKZ got that lucky choke, Dustin was so close to tapping Khabib. He just was scared to position his legs to put weight pressure because he thought Khabib would escape. Khabib himself mentioned that's the closest he's come to losing. If DP can almost tap Khabib...then your argument holds no grounds. However I do think Oliveira is more likely to win this.

Dustin winning comes down to motivation, which he has. Connor pissed him off to a degree, but here Dustin sees the field of options opening up upon victory. Motivation stemming from goals that are seated in wholesome beliefs is stronger than any. Now is the time to put trash where trash belongs. By defeating Oliveria, Dustin can ignore McGregor endlessly. Dustin can throw obstacles in the path of McGregor until its conceded that Dustin takes home the lions share of any rematch, McGregor or otherwise.

He's not being slept on hard. Just because a majority think Dustin will win doesn't mean peeps are sleeping on Charles, we all know he's a great fighter who can and probably will win. But based on their resumes and abilities, its easy to give a very slight edge to Dustin.
