I think it really gives the more common fan a great insight to how long and hard these athletes train for a 3-5 round fight. Like it’s not just oh yea I hopped in the cage. It’s no I’ve been grinding for 3 months for this fight. Embedded is the best thing since TUF to connect with the more casual fans

What a difference in intensity in both the training and the team’s attitude between Weili and Carla. Carla’s coach seemed concerned, while Weili’s whole team was hyped and ferocious

I hate when I hear coaches of female fighters saying they are putting them up against men to train for a strong women because those men are never going to give their full strength and certainly not going to use aggression so when they fight that strong female who uses all their strength and aggression the female fighter can't deal with it. It's just like Megan Anderson who said she was sparring men to prep for Amanda and one punch from Amanda and you could tell she had never been hit like that in her life. This 'training with men' thing only gives false confidence!

There's something very natural about Carla that differs from your average female mixed martial artist. Whatever she has it was achieved by dedication and hard work. She doesn't look like a machine or a steroid injected fiend. Everyone is counting her out. And, one thing I've learned from this sport is NEVER COUNT ANYONE OUT.

Agreed - I am also a little skeptical about Weili and I am actually a fan of hers... China treats their athletes like an extension of their national pride rather than as individuals. It is super important to them that they dominate in sports. Considering that most raw hormones, peptides and designer drugs are produced there, it wouldn't be a stretch to think that they "request" that she take some PEDs. I'm not sure it would even be up to her. USADA doesn't go testing athletes in Thailand and a lot of peptides and hormones are in and out of the system quickly. Her face does have more masculine traits and lots of DHT looking acne too.

Yeah, man, that'd be WILD... I know that, because it's MMA now, that "remote" possibility is actually a (somewhat) distant white elephant in the room, in the far back of all of our minds... Because i DO think we're all wondering: _Is_ Izzy gonna actually SHOOT a takedown on Pereira?? (..."Because if he DID win _that_ way, wouldn't he/isn't he privately afraid that the narrative/takeaway will be that he was too scared to actually TRY to avenge his kickboxing losses with an appropriately kickboxing-decided outcome/win??") I myself am definitely wondering that. I don't think we wanna see THIS thing, between THESE two bad-asses, decided by an UNforced cop-out strategy "to just WIN" by resorting to some anticlimactic contest of their lesser, less-relevant abilities/skillsets - we wanna see them FUCKING BANG. I said the same thing about Islam last ppv, except Alex did not win dominantly against Izzy (even getting out-pointed in both fights til that ko), not dominant like Islam has been consistently. Anyway, that's a bad comparison cause their styles are very different... Islam's style almost guarantees little to no damage from strikes where Alex is purely striking which is a much tougher style to be as dominant imo. I do think Izzy will probably win by TKO like he almost did in their 2nd fight before the ref jumped in to give him an 8 sec break. No 8 sec counts in MMA so we about to see how Alex handles it this time if he can't get that lucky left hook
