2023 was an absolutely unforgettable year for UFC, 8 new male undisputed champs were crowned, major shifts in the divisions, lots of amazing fights. 2024 will be even better! UFC 300 is going to be stacked.

People who say volk won against Islam don’t know how mma scoring works. A person can narrowly out strike you and win 3 rounds, then you could have dropped them and out strike them significantly but if you didn’t do it dominantly enough in the numbers and ground control then rounds would be 10-9s so you’d still lose 48-47

Amanda Nunes and Robbie Lawler retiring in the same year is tough. Those are shoes that will most likely never be filled, but what made it great was that they both went out in fulfilling ways, especially with the heartwarming video tribute to Robbie, and Julianna Pena screaming and whining.

@@JaemanEdwards I'm a big Macy Chiasson and GDR fan, but Macy doesn't fight often and GDR has been out for a while, as well as some select fighters but yeah I firmly believe women's flyweight is the best division in the UFC right now, even after Taila Santos mysteriously disappeared. One thing that really irritated me about that division recently was the fact that Holly Holm earned a title fight, she won 3 of her next 4(two of them being future title challengers) after the Nunes fight, the one loss considered by most to be a robbery, she then didn't get the title fight and instead risked all of it fighting #7 Bueno Silva and lost. Like, the ONE time she actually deserved a title shot, she didn't get it. I stopped really paying attention to that division after that.

@JaemanEdwards from 1993-2013, MMA was getting itself together. It was waiting until the deep decline of boxing to get itself up the combat sport rankings. Now more and more people are tuning in to MMA. Dana White love him or hate him is probably the best promoter out there in sports. He set up the card months before that exact event starts. The only good thing about MMA are the fights are rarely fixed unlike boxing, but it was real bad in Pride even though it was a great MMA promotion.

Letting world class fighters go, making ridiculous match ups like Colby v Leon, having stupid title rematches ad nauseum, the slap fight debacle, befriending dork you tubers, hiring russian dwarves as UFC influencers, using the UFC as a political tool. He makes me sick.

After 2023, we confirmed the EA Cover curse is real. EA UFC 4 cover features Izzy and Masvidal, later just Izzy. Izzy loses UFC 281 to Alex via 5th round TKO EA changes the cover to feature Alex. Alex loses UFC 287 to Izzy via 2nd round KO EA changes the cover back to Izzy. Izzy loses dominantly to Strickland at UFC 293 and announces a partial retirement Volkanovski and Shevchenko both selected to feature as the Champions on the cover of EA UFC 5. Volk loses UFC 284 in a close controversial UD to Makhachev. Shevchenko loses UFC 285 to Grasso via Round 4 Submission. EA UFC 5 releases with Volkanovski and Shevchenko still on the cover. Shevchenko loses to chance to regain her belt in a robbery of a Draw to Grasso at Fight Night Mexico Volk then rematches Makhachev on short notice at UFC 294 and gets KO'd in the 1st. The EA Cover curse is real.

Grasso and Jones made me tear up. Love this stuff so much. Izzys victory was pretty fucking awesome too, but mad love for Periera. And look at DC taking shots at John at the very end there, lol.

Izzy KOing Alex was so cathartic, like poetic justice 😅 All the times they fought Adesanya was better and Alex got badly hurt but always managed to get away with it ( saved by the bell in 1st UFC fight, 10-count then fluke hailmary KO in 2nd kickboxing match, robbery decision in 1st kickboxing match ). It really should be 4-0 for Izzy, but it's a crazy sport and that's part of what makes it so great.

Strickland vs Adesanya had the most entertaining presser and post fight, but the greatest fight of the year imo is Pantoja vs Moreno.

2024. Volk gets a late year call up to Lightweight (this time a full camp) fresh and healthy coming off two wins. Islam has decisively defended his belt twice as well. Volk gets his redemption and becomes double champ.
