The awesome thing about Frankie Edgar was that he fought at his natural weight in a weight class where everyone was bigger than him.

Right and you can see at the last few rounds his cardio shows it's superiority because he didn't mess with his weight. For championship level fights, probably best not to cut weight. In fact I think they should get rid of weight cutting. They should weigh fighters an entire week leading up to the fight so they can't just gain water weight back and cheat. I've always been a big fan and believer in not cutting weight. I think it's very bad for your health and brain first off. Dehydration is proven to kill more brain cells than hits to the cranium. It probably ONLY gives you an advantage early in the fight like you hinted at, and personally I think the advantage isn't as much as they believe. Your body has to recover after dehydration. So in theory it's still trying to recover probably long after the fight. Just really stupid. Did you know that Justin Gaethje doesn't cut weight either? I think he did for a fight recently. But you could see against Dustin Poirier he didn't look that much smaller. Poirier walks at roughly 200. Poirier didnt seem to have much an advantage. He barely beat Justin. Now where I will say that weight cutting really makes a difference is when you are constantly on top of someone like with Khabib and DC style. That is when it really helps.

I was talking about the first Poirier Gaethje fight, not the last one. Sorry. And Justin beat Dustin last time they fought without cutting weight. I might be wrong maybe he did. But not in the first fight for sure. I think Strickland doesn't really cut much weight either. He's always smaller than his opponents. Pereira was like two weight levels above him. Crazy.
