I kinda believe if she hadn't tried that spinning kick where Alexa took her back she would have retained her belt. I felt that she won the second fight and that she didn't get the nod because of the climate of the time.

She kept her belt by breaking Santos orbital bone with a headbutt, it should be a loss as Santos was winning the three first rounds, the doc should never let Santos fighting the two last rounds with that injury, one eye totally closed

Nunes is the women’s GOAT, and you can think what you want, but you sound as deluded as Valentina. I’m actually a fan of hers, and I think she’s incredible. However, she won’t admit mistakes or flaws, won’t give opponents credit, and comes of arrogantly deluded in multiple instances and it’s extremely off putting.

@@burlykim132come on, Valentina is right, the draw was a draw due to one judge giving her an undeserved 10-8 (which made the COMMISSION give all judges a seminar on what a 10-8 is), Alexa beat Val once, she got full credit for that, but she never beat her again in 3 fights. Valentina’s right.

Valentina was actually winning the stand up, but in this fight she brought the full mma experience, since the takedowns were so effective she kept using them. I think she really wanted to get a submission over Alexa since that's how Alexa got her. But even the grappling was very dangerous for both of them. I think Alexa got frustrated to the point her mind froze up, and at one point it almost looked like she was going to have a breakdown and start crying.

Alexa has horrible stand up compared to Valentina and everyone praises her striking for some reason lol. SHe’s usually moving all over there place switching stances and having her chin high and hands low. She also just seems so robotish as if she’s waiting for someone to control her or direct her. Even constantly going for submissions from her back instead of trying to get up and frame or scoot toward the cage until it was too late. Seems like her team makes her better but she gets frustrated and doesn’t listen. Idk so happy Valentina won tho she needed that

She was winning most of the striking exchanges in the last fight too, but Alexa has the heavier hands and when she connected she rocked Valentina, even dropped her. So this time, Shevchenko checked her with the hook and didn’t let Alexa extend her shots fully. Also she didn’t throw a single spinning attack, which is her signature, cause she learned Alexa is going to take that back right away if you give her the opportunity

Amazing Valentina. She nullified that first loss and did what she needed to do to win even thought the odd's were stacked against her. The fact that she won a decision when everybody including her knew she needed a finish only goes to show she is the best fighter on the planet. Dana doesn't know what he is watching and I'd suggest he wanted Grasso to win. Her coach too should be applauded.

Yeah of course they wanted Alexa to win, hence forcing Valentina to fight on the mexican night again despite her initial and understandable refusal due to last year's scorecard scandal. Now there are no mexican champs and their fighters pretty much all performed poorly last night, which is the worst case scenario from Dana's perspective. Diego Lopes da Silva (aka Diego Lopes) is Brazilian. Shevchenko surely understands it's all business, but still, it was definitely disrespectful to her the way the organization was so openly pro-Alexa leading up to the 2nd fight considering how dominant of a champ she'd been for so long.

I am Mexican from Queretaro, but we have to accept things as they are. Although Valentina had a very boring fight and focused on takedowns and maintaining position, the truth is that she mopped the floor with Alexa. Grasso did absolutely nothing! You say Valentina had a boring fight but not Grasso. So you're saying Grasso had a great fight then? Grappling, groundwork is part of MMA, I don't see Khabib thinking it was boring. You have to know what you are watching. She dominated a fight everyone thought she would lose in addition she showed that the first fight was a lucky win. The second fight many thought Valentina won but which meant she could't leave the third in the judges hands. She then goes and dos exactly that and wins.

the first fight wasn't a lucky win at all, it was pure strategy. There's footage of Grasso training the exact same finishing sequence in the locker room right before the fight. Its true that Valentina was winning tho, and I do think she was robbed in the 2nd fight, but this 3rd fight in general sucked. Valentina did what she needed to do, Alexa always had trouble with the takedowns and apparently never bother to improve, even after fighting Valentina for almost 50min and headlining a TUF season against her. Good win for Val but definitely not an exciting one

Valentina smashed and ran over the fake champion. Grasso is a tremendous champion of holding the real champions belt. I appreciate Grasso bodyguarded the belt for a year. She really got screwed in that second fight. I don't think there is any need for another fight. Alexa pulled out all of her tricks with her hail mary sub attempts and it wasn't enough. This was a complete and total domination.

I just hope Alexa eventually gets the credit she deserves. She beat Valentina, had an extremely close second fight where she knocked Valentina down and nearly submitted her, then fought Valentina for another 25 minutes where she never gave up and was competitive off her back the entire time. Valentina is on another level from the rest of the world. Alexa gave her 3 hard fights. You can hear in this interview alone that Alexa Grasso motivated Valentina more than anyone else, possibly even Amanda.

Man the very saddening difference between champs like Valentina, Volk, Jones, compared to the likes of Adesenya etc… they just have a strong wholistic martial arts base (jiu jutsu, wrestling, kickboxing), and they have big heart and desire to evolve. Izzy my favorite fighter by a long shot but I wish he had a more wholistic game and that desire to take a punch to give one.

I was pretty much guaranteeing Valentina was going to win. Just like when Amanda lost and then came back and dominated. I know this is not the same scenario, but I knew Valentina was going to make it look easy and she did.

You could tell she cane in stronger and thicker, she actually had to.cut weight. She almost looked like 135 Valentina
