The way Khalil still had light in his eyes despite all the damage he'd sustained meant everything - his whole life was dedicated to this moment. From being an anxious overweight kid to fighting for the UFC title, the guy was ready to die for his dream ! Alex really had to work on his body to finish him, and that's saying a lot!

Some people had said Khalil didn't deserve the title shot but he definitely proved them wrong here. He showed so much heart in this fight.

Pereira was coughing on his stool between rounds and was reportedly dealing with multiple severe medical issues during his camp. For him to always show up even while compromised and give fans the title fights he does is incredible

Alex could've done him so dirty with a KO but you can tell Alex didn't want Khalil to go out like that so the body shot finish was perfect and respectful. Rountree had too much spirit and heart.

What a masterclass! Round 1: Khalil comes in hot. Quick, crisp combos. Pereira has a surprisingly forward guard and rolls with the punches that land so he doesn't take much damage. Pereira chops at the legs and lands phantom punches, head kicks don't go well. Round 2: starts similar to the previous round. Khalil closes the gap, throws what he can, steps back. Pereira rests his fists on Khalil's shoulder when the void is closed and pushes him away while leaning back. Chopping those legs is starting to show a subtle limp and that nose is opening up. Round 3: Khalil's speed is slowing down and there's less power in him. Pereira stops with the high kicks and increases the volume. Khalil is hurt by the end. Round 4: Pereira knew Khalil wouldn't keep the pace until the bell. Brutal shots were landed but Pereira was cautious, one mistake and Khalil could land the great equaliser shot. He's hurt, he's retreating, he's wobbling, he can't breathe from that nose, his eye is shut, keep picking him apart rather than go for the kill. Headshot after headshot... well, the ribs are exposed. Absolute beasts out there!

On rewatch, I actually give Alex the 1st round. He land the most shots accurately and by far the hardest shot of the round at 2:15. Snapped Khalil's head back with that cross and was just out of range for most of the punches he got hit with to where it just grazed his nose. Round 2 goes to Khalil for having the hardest strikes landed even though Alex was controlling most of it. The first half of Round 3 was the best Khalil looked until Alex flipped the switch.

The first round was a feeling out process to get Roundtree timing down. After the first round it was inevitable that it was over for Roundtree.
