I'll admit that in Volk's early title reign I wasn't his biggest fan, probably from being a big fan of Holloway and thinking his victories were controversial, but over time Volkanovski has really warmed on me, to the point where I think he's probably the most mature, professional, and humblest fighter in the UFC. Truly a class act and a role model.

I've been following this sport religiously since 2007 and Volk has become one of my favorite fighters. He's so humble and respectful yet competitive AF. When he beat Max in the 1st fight I thought he was lucky. Now he's grown into somebody I get genuinely excited seeing anytime I can. Much love to this man. He deserves everything he has ever earned. Without a doubt.

As another fan from the Chuck and Tito days I have to agree that Volk is one of my all time favorites. I loved Anderson for his performances, I loved Chuck for his persona, Forrest for his reckless abandon, Hughes for his dominant power, I came to respect GSP for his consistency, I just like who Volk is as a person. He has all that talent and work ethic to boot, yet he remains grounded and genuine. Young fighters should be looking at him as a blueprint, there’s only one chael sonnen and with everyone trying to be Conor mcgregor Volk is a breath of fresh air

Lost a very close first fight to Islam, dominated featherweight for God knows how long, but after two brutal KOs at 35 it's either time to walk away with your health mostly intact, or take at least nine to twelve months off at the minimum to let the brain fully heal. And I mean if he goes the latter route, I don't think he comes back this time next year and wins either. It's just time. Pains me to say it, but I'd rather the guy have a long, healthy life and leave on a high note than take further damage.

Unfortunately i don't think he's too happy. He's already spoken out about being depressed when out of camp, and 2 straight ko losses in the span of a few months definitely doesn't help with that. I hope he finds a few hobbies to keep him happy, but the high of being a reigning champion is basically an impossible thrill to replicate outside of the cage and many fighters have a hard time transitioning out of that lifestyle

Tbf to Topuria, this was not a pretty fight for Volk. He was on his heels the entire fight, looked like he was extremely overworking himself just to keep Topuria back. And even tho Volk won the first round, those jabs and calf kicks did absolutely nothing to hold or slow Topuria down. The man didn't even break a sweat and put Alex to sleep with the first clean punch he landed. I'm the biggest Volk fan. He's my fav fighter. Now I don't know if its bc of his age that he just has nothing for Ilia, or what, but I honestly just don't think he can beat him. I man he's Alex, I know out of 10 he'll get the better of him once or twice. But man this kids just better than him at this point in their careers.

Actually, Gaethje stepped in on short notice. Tony had a full camp. I don't see Tony preparing for Gaethje any different than he would any other fighter. Tony isn't technical and very unorthodox, his style was being tough. He met a hard hitter with a bit of technical prowess at the end of his chin.
