I don't think anyone will disagree that Couture controlled the pace of the fight. I think people are more so trying to argue that fights shouldn't be decided that way. Sometimes you see one guy with his face bashed in and the other guy is perfectly clean, yet the guy with his face bashed in wins because he had 'dominant position' for most of the fight, but dominant position doesn't always mean doing damage. I'm not saying Couture got his face bashed in, but he'll be feeling it more than Vera.

I dunno about the Vera fight -- Couture's strategy, to me, was to basically neutralize Vera for 2 rounds, getting him exhausted, then explode on Vera in the third, and to be honest, he did fulfill his strategy pretty well, but Vera still got in some VERY good offence, and fucked Randy up HARD with that beautiful knee to the chest, so to me, it was really a solid draw.

Well you can disagree all you want, but if you look at the fight and judge it the way it's supposed to be judged, then Randy won. If you completely disregard the fact that Randy closed the gap and neutralized Vera's ability to utilize his Muay Thai for more than 3/5ths of the fight, then MAYBE you could score it in favor of Vera. Even then, Couture landed more strikes than Vera.
