One of the most underrated defensive transitions is here 8:51. Lopes tries to pass to Brito's back and Brito anticipates, intercepting the hip to transition to takedown and top control. VERY impressive defensive maneuver. Shame how this went down in the end, but Brito's skill set is still very cleverly honed.

I come back to say, I appreciate this tf out of this fight. When someone shows the heart and iq of a champion like Diego to turn the fight around completely in his favor, that's what makes fights as good as they get imo. Unfortunately most of them impressive IQ moments were last second decisions before the horn blew and it reset the whole rhythm the next round. But man this fight is just awesome. Underrated.

There are gloves that are approved for MMA that still allow you to have your hand open for blocking/grappling purposes, yet basically nullifies any chance you'll poke someone in the eye. Most of the lower rung companies use them. UFC & Bellator don't for absolutely no justifiable reason.

These two guys are the definition of JOURNEYMAN at the UFC & rightly so. They are skilled, tough, strong, and determined. But they are totally without experience or pacing knowledge. People who think Khamzat and Paddy would just bulldoze through Top guys at 170 and 185, need to pay attention to these two guys: Khamzat and Paddy are just 2-3 fights above these two but are essentially still journeyman. You fight like these two guys against the elites and by the end of 2 round, you are totally exhausted and then the elite, more experienced guys would just pick you apart with tactical maneuvers. When you're young, strong, and very good, even at your debut fights, you could easily "ragdoll" others, new and old, who are less skilled, low to unranked. Fighting the top ranked guys at your division, it doesn't take more than a carefully placed punch or kick to your head and it doesn't matter even if you're Khamzat, someone as big and tall and fast as you are, like Leon, could put your lights out easy! Paddy would be KOed by the likes of Dustin, Chandler, Gaethje, Conor, Islam, Benny, Charles and Khamzat would also be picked apart by the likes of Usman, Colby, Burns, Leon, Luque, Cannonier, Costa, Vettori, Whittaker, Izzy et al. In 2 plus years, when they'ave successfully fought a few Top 10/Top 5, sure, they have a good chance at defeating top 3 guys in the divisions they fight in. But right now, Khamzat and Paddy are 99% hyped trains. Big, strong, good, and eager... but still largely hyped trains that are easily derailed, when they run across an elite or a crafty veteran.

This 100% should have been a no contest. Barring that, a DQ for Brito. Inexcusable to give the guy the win here. A shame, both fighters were impressive and Brito in particular was obviously dominant - but getting rewarded with a win here after multiple warnings and a fight-stoppage is gross.

Releasing this video doesn't do Brito any favors. I don't plan on tuning into any of his fights after seeing this disgraceful win, the man was sticking his hand out in a way that made Lopes hesitate to approach for fear of eye-poke time and time again. Just a disgusting decision. Top-class fighting from both opponents otherwise, but I'm more excited to see Lopes again than Brito 10000%. I pool in on PPVs with friends pretty often, but I'm guaranteed going to have the boys over for a free stream night this weekend. 0% chance I pay to watch this fighter open the main card.
