It’s back and forth. UFC started out grappling heavy, then a lot of strikers got good at stuffing takedowns and keeping it upright, or even the wrestlers who fell in love with their big overhands. Then better grappling gets injected into the sport until the strikers catch up again, and so on.
@jagaloon148 ай бұрын
Basically what I’m getting at is, while the vast majority of these -ev/-ov fighters might be as boring as watching paint dry, they’re gradually bettering the grappling of even the worst fighters until eventually anyone worth their ranking will fight these guys like how Volk fought Islam the first time, or Poirier.

The Swanson vs Choi raises the age old question "how much can one man take?" and expands it to "how much can two men take?" Turns out it's a lot. That was a wild 2nd round. Maybe not quite Don Frye vs Yoshihiro Takayama at Pride 21 level but still impressive.

back when being in the UFC actually meant something, the skills/talents been watered too down to much via DWCS. the skill level isn't just what it use to be, fights recently show it. back then youd never see someone as a $6 underdog, now it's every weekend.

I never watched the fight but was under the impression that Cody dominated Dominic. In my opinion outside of round 4 it was close. Goldberg even said 1&2 were close in the 3rd then in the 5th all the sudden Joe was saying Cruz needed a finish. I think round 4 swayed opinions on the fight.
