I was hoping the analyst noticed at 6:08, Islam throws a left hook to the head baiting Oliveira to block with his right hand, isolating Oliveira’s arm to set up the head and arm choke. Brilliant little set up. Islam’s grappling transitions are so fast that people don’t notice the subtle intricacies in his movement.

The problem with using Mendes vs Volk to show his get up game is Mendes just held him the whole time. He didn't try to trap his wrist or lock up the legs while Islam's gonna do both of those things and on top of being stronger making it even worse. Volk was able to push on the head bc he had a arm to do and I don't think Islam's gonna give him that luxury.

The analysis was so good, I watched play-by-play sections four times. This is my conclusion. If these two wrestlers were able to take Volk down multiple times, Is;am will take him down, too. Volk survived these two fighters on the ground, it will be difficult to survive Islam. When Khabib and Islam take someone down, they do one of two things (1) ground and pound, which damages, drains the person at the bottom and makes him tired. (2) choke or submit the opponent. It’s always the same strategy, ground and pound, make him tired, submit. How will Volk defend against it. Every other opponent knew what I summarized, yet none of them were able to develop a defense against it.

Makhachev has undeniably the best ground game in the UFC but I find it strange that he would become the number one P4P after only one title defense. If he was to go up to welterweight and beat someone like Chimaev I would be more convinced with the idea, but beating a small fighter like Volkanovski doesn’t represent (for me) the needed step to be the number one. Anyway, this fight is more about seeing how long Volkanovski will last than him winning.

Put Volkanovski in there vs. ANY other lightweight and he probably wins it. Just because Islam is better does not mean Volkanovski isn't that good. Volk is exceptional.

Charles: 11 wins streak and was in the conversation for LW GOAT. Volk: 12 wins streak, reigning PFP #1 and most people's FW GOAT. Both dominated their divisions. If Islam dominates Volk like he dominated Charles, it would be hard to argue his PFP #1 status despite the quantity of his defences.

I believe on what Khabib said that Islam is an elite fighter, while Volk's opponents were just good fighter, only Holloway he fought who has better qualities (in boxing, takedown defense and cardio). On Sunday 12 Feb, Volk is going to face a different fighter who has excellent qualities. My prediction, Islam is going to win by submission in 2nd round

The problem with volks is that he's not a finisher, he's a decision fighter unless his opponent has a bad cardio. So in this fight volks needs to perfect for 25mins.

These guys from Habib's camp fight like fighter pilots. They are in your OODA loop and you are skewered on the horns of their dilemma either way you go, they're 3 steps ahead of you. It's brilliant. These guys win by being smarter, they have better tactics.

Sjo I mean Islam wrestler, grappler,judo,Sambo his chain wrestler and his got bjj aswell and his striking is underrated his footwork is good and you will see he throws punches or kicks not to land but to get reactions or closing distance Islam is elite ,all respect to volk but his fighting a different beast here, you can't train for this, yes he played rugby and rugby tough you up etc I played rugby all my life, but it won't count in this fight yes he like the brawl he can take it. He hasn't fought a high caliber wrestler in years Islam is good everywhere. 2nd round tko/or submission Volk will understand when Islam take him down what it's all about. I know every fighter needs to be confident he knows what's coming its how to stop it. Love both fighter but I hate it that 2 of my favorite fighters are fighting eachother. And still

Realistically Alex has 1 path to victory and that is by outpointing Islam. However, Islam has ground and pound, submissions, tko on the feet or outpointing Alex. Islam has too many different ways to win this fight. Both are great champions! Alex is tough as nails. It should make for an interesting fight.

Why most analysts are overlooking Islam's glaring record of the least strikes absorbed per minute in the entire UFC history. Even if the fight stays on the feet for the sake of argument..it's still a long night for Volks trying to score a point from the striking aspect of game.
