This is such an underrated classic. Diego’s knockdown in the third round and that ending of the first round were crazy.

@@bbb-yk8no it's very possible. Diego was sooo durable, and had INSANE cardio and will power. Plus Gilbert was on the downswing, and his cardio/ability to take punishment was quickly fading

@@bankzoz8871 the judge didn't make the decision, the doctor made it. Did you even listen? Also, why stop? Stoppage is if there's good chance of permanent damage to the eye - it was high enough that it wasn't impairing his vision.

That cut wasn't worthy of a stoppage. That happens if it's affecting his eyesight to the most extreme and/or they're constantly lifting a hand to wipe at their eye, which it wasn't, as you can hear Diego talking to the doctor in a roundabout "im okay, it's going down the side, not in my eye, I just had some Vaseline in my eye". And it was, it was running down the eyebrow line and temple. Probably the only reason it wasn't stopped when it got a lot worse.

Sanchez got smashed in that fight. Basically spent most of the time getting angry because he was being out punched and walking forwards into even more punches because of it. He fights like a council estate chav who knows how to fight but lacks the appreciation and understanding of martial arts so just gets overly aggressive to try to compensate for it.

You can hear the contempt Joe had for Goldie in these older fights. Almost never acknowledges what Goldie says. He's constantly laughing and joking with DC and Anik now. Joe always struck me as a bit of a self righteous doosh

My god, I remember the night of UFC 166 very well. Me and My dad were watching this event illegally and I kept telling him, "Diego vs Gilbert is gonna be the fight of the night". Good times but damn, 11 years went way too fast.
