The one thing I'll always remember about this fight besides the upset, is Amanda looks up before even getting to her feet and extended her hand to congratulate Pena. That is pure class from her.

She was humble because she know she was not at 100% but didn't want to back outta the fight!!! She know her tank was not filled and obviously she showed great sportsmanship!! During analyst prediction segments during fight week, he was literally the only one saying Peña would win when everyone else was saying Nunes. Granted, he probably felt a bit of pressure to do so since they are teammates, but I've see other analysts say about their teammates: "I love you, but your opponent has a better shot." Even if he wasn't 100% confident she'd be able to do it, he was definitely 100% behind her.

Remember how everyone thought Ronda was untouchable and then fell off the cliff? I don’t think Amanda will be as bad because she seems to have a much better support structure around her and not just a bunch of yes men and leeches but transitioning to more of a family life seems to trigger these declines.

What is it with the perception of Ronda she had 6 title defenses was the biggest highest paid star in the sport during her reign and only lost 2 fights one to the GOAT and the other to Holly who couldn't even defend it once. She changed the UFC for women permanently and made them a serious and successful fixture.

I like to think that all of the fighters in the women’s division look at Ronda’s blinding stardom and her colossal collapse as a lesson on how to *not* go about their career and possible success. Ronda in her own right was a great fighter. But, she let the success fuel her ego.

The greatest moment in this flashback is not the win, it's not the reaction of the crowd, not Rogan's reaction, or Pena's family reacting so beautifully, not the "I told you so", not sorry ass Kayla Harrison, or even the moment between Nunes and her baby... It's Pena extending her hand to Nunes before even getting up off their knees. It was touching and real...very real.

I love how Amanda took it like a class act from start to finish. That’s what made this whole thing even better. Sure, it’s always thrilling to see cocky or unsportsmanlike fighter being angry after a bitter loss but it’s always more enjoyable when such a positive moment for one person doesn’t create any kind of negativity for another.

Amanda lost that belt so gracefully man props to her for showing nothing but respect, a lot of people who were as dominate as she was , couldn’t handle that loss like that , I mean that was a tough way to lose gassing out like that, but I think she just had a lot of admiration for the fact she finally found a worthy opponent who got the best of her. This was basically the complete opposite of the Shevchenko vs. Grasso upset. Here we had a champion beaten by an underdog, and the now-former champ showed good sportsmanship and didn't do any bullshit, while the new champion acted like a complete jerk and made themselves immediately unlikable. In the other fight, we had Shevchenko lose the belt and refuse to accept it, saying she was dominating the entire fight when she wasn't, while the new champion in Grasso was about as benign and respectful as anyone could be.

Im from the future, December 18th 2023, and this is still one of the most historical "upsets" & moving moments in MMA history (along with Edwards KO in the 5th round/with less than 1 minute to go in a losing match to Champ Usman in Aug. of 2022~y'all will see🤔🤪), but these ladies handled it with so much class & sportsmanship unlike no other to date... Nunes to me was an uplift to women's posture when it came to striking, I was shocked how good and like a man she was when it came to strikes, no one can beat her I thought, that's why this was such an upset for me. Love them both, great fighters and with class, something you can't teach.

Whats more crazy about Juliana is she won the contender series season 18 when Misha Tate was a couch and then she won the belt agains one of worlds best women fighter then won her UFC contender series being couch woww what a story

You can tell Amanda was happy for nunes and for herself bcos she needed a challenge. A loss like this and bouncing back to avenge that loss is the type of adversity you need which will cement your legacy even further

Crowd reactions like this make me question why dana waited so long to have a women’s division. The energy of upsets between this Rose and Holm were as loud as any men fight. Plus, Joanna vs Weili won fight of the year. You still get more less exciting fights but there’s always a crazy upset eventually and the whole community goes nuts.
