This dude ain’t improved since his debut. No striking, no ground and pound, just takedowns and transitions and a rear naked choke. And he keeps gassing in the 2nd/3rd. Ngl idk if he wins his next fight or makes it top ten, but if Olivera did it, then Raul can.

@ even the last early20s prospect to actually reach the belt we had in the ufc was Jon Jones and that was thru a 2010s LHW roster with PEDs. Sean Omalley was 24(mid 20s) when he debuted against Soukammtath and even HE was already a great striker dominating and finishing his early unranked tests, and within a few years was going toe to toe vs Yan. and needed matchmaking protection from wrestlers like Stamman and young Merab. "becoming champ and retiring by 25" is just too unrealistic to say if you are not Chimaeving or Omalleying your unranked bums but eeeking out struggled decisions lol.

@ yup. he either realizes he was young and naive at 20 saying "my goal is to be champ and retire by 25" and end up retiring without ever making it to top 5 at 26 or he gonna have to change his goal of retirement age when hes still number 15 at age 26 with protected matchmaking layups here and there.

I like Raul but I'm sorry he clearly did not win this fight. The rules explicitly say that rounds are judged based on who came closer to contributing to the end of the fight... and they just gave the win to the guy who nearly got submitted rounds 1&3 because he had a few minutes of back control those rounds. If anyone disagrees, please explain to me how Raul won this fight WITHOUT using the word "control"

Morales should have gotten the nod! Being a backpack and not attempting a submission gets you the win?!?! Morales was 1/1 TD and had 2 submission attempts. Morales had more strikes 39 to Rosa’s 26. UFC clearly babying this guy. 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️

I Honestly believe that he has the potential to be champion one day, the kid is young and is at the moment quite an amazing fighter, sure this time it wasn't the best scrap in the world. he said it himself that he's learning. but honestly not even close to being in the top 15. take your time while your young because this sport will eat you and spit you out if you make the wrong decisions

I disagree and think in some cases we do know, like when sage northcutt joined the ufc super young anyone who knows the sport knew he would never be championship level, even though he was young and had time to improve. Especially now weve seen a few years of raul rosas and how hes only improved a tiny bit its even easier to say. I would bet literally everything i own on him not becoming champ, its like 99.9999 percent certain unless they make him fight cm punk for the title or something

I still think he needs some time. There’s no rush in facing the top guys in arguably the hardest division. I am not an mma expert so I could be wrong. I just don’t want him to lose a couple in a row and never get his confidence back. He also might not be like that either, but some people are. I’m sure he will be fine if he just keeps working hard and try to improve is striking game because he hardly ever leaves any damage. That’s also the #1 Scoring criteria so he needs to add that to his game.

Taking someone down and doing ZERO damage should not be awarded with any points. Taking someone down and trying to sub them and ground and pound them should be given points.
