Rich Franklin Joins the UFC Hall of Fame

A veteran of 37 professional fights during his 13-year career, Franklin compiled a record of 29-7, 1 NC (14-6 UFC), which included wins over UFC Hall of Famers Ken Shamrock and Chuck Liddell, former UFC middleweight champion Evan Tanner, and former PRIDE middleweight champion Wanderlei Silva.

He was a monster. Wicked striking, tough as nails, super athletic. Known for being a nice guy and the hardest worker in the gym. Always a class act.

Calm down the hall a fame hasn't been around very long, most people who deserve to be in there will be there. Rich is a pioneer but to cry that he wasnt im there earlier does a disservice to the other legends.

I started watching in 2008 so I pretty much missed Rich's peak (in terms of Win-Loss record) but from the replays and highlights I saw of him, he always fought with a TON of heart and never made excuses for his loses or shortcomings as a fighter. He also seemingly never turned down a challenge. He had bouts with a long list of the all-time greats. Mad respect for Rich and the way he followed his dream, as well for how he handled himself in victory and defeat. You can just tell he's a good dude. Hats off.

I watched ufc back in the day but I never got into it until I noticed Franklin. He's got alot of class and respect. Alot of fighters now a day could use some of what he had. And it helped he's from the Nati.

Well deserved. I remember the fights with Anderson and the respectful way both treat each other. Franklin in the second fight told the audience they should not booed Anderson and respect the spectacle both gave to the public. Great man. Great champion.

Yeah that was really classy, I have never heard a fighter say something like that to the crowd. You could see the emotion in Silva when he beat rich and the genuine respect.

One of my all time favourites one of the reason I started watching this sport. I can remember the Tanner fight like it was yesterday. The Silva fight was one of the saddest times for me. That Chuck moments still gives me goosebumps. LEGEND. Thanks for the memories Rich.

Yeah I miss the colorful days of the UFC, fighters stood out more, chuck with the blue iceicle shorts, Ortiz with the black flames, Anderson with the tight yellow and black shorts, Jones with the awesome shiny slit legged shorts with the gold Nike sign, Penn with the white black belt rimmed shorts, crocops croation shorts, rampage with the camouflage shorts, GSP with his tithy whiteys, melvin manhoefs gladiator shorts, sakuraba in his trademark Orange ect...

My long time favorite.. loved him.. so much respect, he bowed and huged everyone.. he was a rolemodel and the face of the "good" ufc ... not the mcgregor one.. I was really crushed when he ended his carrer.. such a great guy.. hoped that he would be one of the top guys in UFC management or something or a comentator..or that he would have his own ufc show.. anything. The way Anderson Silva handled Rich Franklin in both of their fights was insane. Rich was at the top of his game, and it just went to show how good Anderson was in his prime. People will always look up to a guy like Conor,Khabib,Fedor,Silva,Jon Jones etc....basically a born fighter. But people would never appreciate the simple guys who were nowhere near a born fighter, but still they've reached the highest heights of combat sports. Thank you Rich for everything you've done !

Much respect to Rich Franklin. He was a great mixed martial artist and was a beast until the spider Anderson Silva took over the UFC but even after his loss to Anderson he was taking on legends like Wanderlei Silva, Forest Griffin, Chuck Liddell, and Dan Henderson just to put on a show for the fans. He was never in a boring fight and always looked for the finish. Great addition to the UFC's hall of fame.
