A lot of Pereiras checks go unnoticed and looks like he’s getting hit but he’s actually rotating his knee towards the kicks, this takes impact off of the lower leg by moving with the kick but also increases the chance of hurting the kicker if they land on the knee area.

You really didn't talk about how izzy wasn't able to check any of Poatan's low kicks which ultimately decided the fight. You can even see Adesanya taking the weight off the leg when he goes to the corner. And if you only see this video would make it seem that Alex only threw 5 punches that connected, when in reality this is the stat: Adesanya had 53% of sig. Strikes while Alex had 57%. No doubt! I mean, it's certainly far from what you see from most of the mainstream mma commentariat or people like Bisping, but still definitely slanted focusing on some of Izzy's brilliant skill and technique while ignoring/underselling A;ex's equally as brilliant skill and technique. At the end of the day, even though this was way better than average, it's analyses like these that leads to 90% of mma viewers/fans to arrive to the conclusion that Izzy is by far the technically superior striker with Alex just having ridiculous ko power and not much else. He also straight up misrepresented the way that first round went, that round probably was going to go to Alex if it was for those last two shots from Izzy, and certainly wasn't a round where Izzy just outclassed him the whole way through - in the way this guy would have you believe. I also love this whole narrative that Izzy somehow dominated the grappling, i mean - Alex literally did way more damage and was all around way more effective in the clinch than Izzy was, and more importantly he was 1 for 1 on his take-down attempts, whereas Izzy had all 8 of his TD attempts stuffed minus one, that was actually first initiated by Alex attempting a poorly executed trip that Izzy reversed in mid-air. Granted, Alex definitely didn't look good on the ground after that, but if it wasn't for that one mistake on his part, based on how well he shut down every single other td attempt by Izzy - i don't think he woulda ended up getting on the bottom a single time for the whole fight. Which also is why that 3rd round coulda looked completely different and therefore woulda changed the course of the rest of the fight. At the end of the day, whether it was the td in the 3rd, or hanging in the pocket waaaaay too long allowing Izzy to rock him right at the bell, the points where Alex was damaged the most, though Izzy made the most of them, they had more to do with mistakes on his part than they did Ozzy's skill. Alex made all the big mistakes in that fight and still ended up winning

Regardless of the outcome of this. I will always appreciate what Izzy brings to MMA. His intro & run to the belt was so entertaining. He should utilize THAT fluid movement he had. Instead of this stiff sideways shuffle that lost all his fluid footwork. His best way to beat Alex is BEING MOBILE. Diverseness. Shiftiness. Lastly, in worst case scenario moment's Izzy has got to take away from the last fight that he's got to find new ways to get himself out of dangerous moments, how to be defensive and try your best to not let Alex get a easy finish just because defenses and mobility went out the window... Regardless win or lose I will tune into every Izzy fight because I really appreciate all the unique things he's brought to the UFC.

What i noticed from Pereira is he's not trying to land the kick, He knew that izzy will throw a kick after his kick so the next thing that he will do is to check all izzy's kick. That's why izzy foot was so messed up on that round 5, it pays off.

Torso rotation. I trained fighting on and off for a lot of my life and I never understood left hooks until I realized all of the power comes from the torso rotation. Once you understand how to implement it you can generate power from less than a foot.

@zakiramad

The problem is that this video doesn't highlight the moments Pereira had. He landed more significant strikes throughout the fight per the official numbers. In terms of reflexes, right before Izzy level changes, Pereira dodged a right hook and landed a flush left hand which was one of the most impressive moments of that exchange but ignored in this analysis. This analysis totally ignores the leg kick effectiveness of Pereira and the fact that he checked almost all the leg kicks thrown his way, ultimately hurting Izzy badly. This analysis gives the idea that Izzy dominated the fight when in fact it was a masterful striking chess match between two of the best strikers and competitive one at that. Izzy has fought powerful knockout type strikers but has never lost. If Pereira didn't have the technical ability to compete, he wouldn't be winning all his fights against Izzy. Don't undermine his technical prowess by saying he is a technically inferior fighter to Izzy. The fans won't understand why he keeps beating Izzy every time.
