@@Grandroborox indeed. I wasn't watching MMA during Tony prime. While he was undoubtedly really good and really entertaining the amount of damage he took literally every fight was insane. People disrespecting prime Tony forget that his decline did not begin until he was 36. Fans are now putting guys like Poirier and Gaethje above him when those guys are barely reaching that age themselves. Tony is a top 5, maybe even top 3 all-time great at 155. Only other lightweights to have as long of a UFC winning streak are Islam and Khabib.

The Tony/Khabib outcome depends on when the fight would have happened. The fight was first booked in 2014, at which point Tony was a veteran in his prime, while Khabib had just entered the UFC and wasn't nearly as effective with his grappling back then. I believe Tony would have won that fight. The last fight was scheduled in 2019 when Khabib was at his peak, and Tony was edging close to 40 years old, and he had begun declining. I believe Khabib would have won that fight.

I hate MMA fans who said Tony was never that good and lost to Justin in his prime. Tony had god-speed here. After the surgery , even when he beat Pettis, he wasn’t in his prime. He should’ve rested a long time after Lee and not do a double weight cut, let the leg heal, not go short notice for an interim belt again with a striker when you’ve been preparing for khabib with sambo, and should’ve evolved his defense because he was always on offense. I will never forget this Tony. My favorite fighter, El Cucuy.❤

Prime Tony had perhaps one of the greatest jaws ever. Dude can seriously take a punch, even from justin.

The fact that we never got to see prime Tony vs Khabib is such a shame. I’m not here to argue who would win, I don’t even have a preference, but man the level of skill and competition in that fight would be insane.

Not really. Tony was already declined after the cable trip, as early as the Pettis and Cowboy fights. Tony never moved as fluid after the catastropic knee injury.

@@YourHeartIsTheKey yeah but he still had his mind right, he could still perform like a demon. After he took a thousand clean head punches from Geatchy that night, he was truly never the same.

@@rheyza4475 still??? Like still??? Brother Tony ain't sh*t in front of father's time. Even if he hadn't received that damage from Gaethje, the old age would've get him sooner or later.

@@rheyza4475 the insane head trauma he took against Gaethje certainly sped up his decline but he was slowing down anyway. He was noticeably slower in the cowboy fight. After you rupture your knee and are pushing mid 30s fighters will decline anyway.
