This is legit prime Tony, the best Tony has ever looked against arguably his best opponent (RDA still in his prime here). The crazy thing is he still looks so young here but his next fight was a year later against Kevin Lee and he looked considerably older. And then he kept fighting just once a year until 2020... :(

@@tommygunnggg1127 I'm one of the few who kept screaming how sloppy his stand up was against subpar opponents. The only threat I ever saw in this guy was his BJJ. He was EXTREMELY overrated and his winstreak was on average fighters, tiger cubs or old tigers on their way out. Mindset and momentum of a fighter is VERY important and usually a good gauge to predict the fighter's trajectory. I called Ilia Topuria 'future champ' after his short notice UFC debut against Youssef Zalal (who had both momentum and mindset on his side). TL;DR Tony's trash.

The best and worst of Tony here. He was so fluid, so creative, a real terminator and had lasting power that carried past his prime. But he was getting hit with bombs on the regular. This Tony vs 2020 Gaethje would have been a much closer fight but it feels poetic that Gaethje, who unlike Tony, actually revised and refined his fighting style, got that win, unlike Tony who, since he didn't lose during the legendary 12 fight win-streak, never adjusted and walled up his defences even when he became worn down as his career went on.
@BlueprintGB-gz5qq

Prime Tony would've cooked Gaethje, wouldn't had been close. A clearly out of prime version of himself nearly finished a prime Gaethje early in the 2nd, fresh off 2 weight cuts & a heavy grappling camp for Habib. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't the fight also on short-notice?

@@BlueprintGB-gz5qq yea, I forget how short but I think maybe 6 weeks. It was the first Covid Card. Khabib ran off to Russia and got landlocked, so they made it an interim fight between Tony and Gaethje. Also, Tony vs. Cowboy and Pettis should not have been as competitive as they were given where those guys were in their careers and where Tony was in his, those should've been our first signs of his decline.

@@gonzalorocha Pettis fight was Tony's first fight back after injury coming back premature from it, nursing himself apparently too. If u know, Tony simply wasn't the same after losing his mobility. @@crazy4052 It didn't help for sure but Tony did show signs of decline before that. He was just good enough to win despite that. I think along with the double weight cut, was the fact that he overtrained for Khabib. That fight was booked in December and he eventually fought in May. That's 5 months of training for a five round fight when champions usually have 2-3 month training camps. And then there's his inactivity of fighting once a year beyond his control during his mid 30s. So many factors caused a crazy downfall :(

So many of fans throw Ferguson under the bus and forget what he accomplished. Do not ever forget how good he was when he was on his tear! It was what?.. 11 or 12 straight wins? Probably one of the unluckiest fighters ever and best fighters to never hold the undisputed belt, but at least he had that interim belt... How many times can a guy get screwed out of his title shot? from Khabib missing weight then him tripping over a sound cable at the prefight media event and tearing his ACL. His opportunity got missed multiple times for silly reasons. Then he had to fight the worst killers in the division after his injury. And then he fought past his prime because it's just what he loved to do even if he was losing. Tony was good. Don't forget it!

Prime Tony was a phenomenon. I still think he and Khabib had it 50-50 or better for Tony if they'd fought when Cucuy was in his prime. Latest Khabib would have probably won, earliest most prime Ferguson would have taken it

A declining old Tony coming off 2 weight cuts and a training camp focussed on grappling came in and gave Gaethje a good fight. Prime Tony would’ve done him bad

Remember Tony at this stage was preparing for khabib, no one else, say what you will about him, he dodged this fight, everyone says he is the goat and he’s so disciplined, yet missed weight more than once, we were all robbed of that fight. Edjebra training Tony is something in of its self, for it to not get show cased. We got robbed
