I never expected Gus to have the slightest chance against Jones but man did he hang in there. He really surprised me with this fight. Much respect to Gus and I'm not gunna lie I was nervous as shit for Jones because even thought I'm a big fan of Jones, Gus was clearly winning until his cardio failed him in the 4th and 5th rounds. I'm glad Jones is still the champion but not gunna lie if that was a 3 round fight Gus probably would have took it. They will have an amazing rematch one day!

I think Jones would still be one of the top fighters in the heavyweight division too, I can see him becoming the heavyweight champ. Even in the heavyweight division he still has a considerable reach advantage over everyone, when he beefs up he will be able to out wrestle a lot of heavyweights. I see 3 people who could potentially beat him Cain, JDS or Cormier... Jones vs Cormier would be a good fight, cause he is a top wrestler, got the speed and power and he's very athletic and unpredictable.

Yea, Jones still has a massive reach advantage on him. He's only an inch taller and that doesn't really even it out. Idk why they say they are extremely similar. Jones is also has more depth to his game and is much more technical, while Gustafsson's more of a brawler with a decent array of tools.

Jones is huge for his weight class and is probably the most dynamic fighter in the division as well, that's why hes the best. The reason why he can fight the way he does is probably due to his height and reach advantage too, gives him more options.

Jon Jones is the best P4P fighter in the world! He is an incredible athlete, and what he has achieved in the sport over such a short period is unreal! I have a lot of respect for him as a fighter! I cannot see Gustafsson beating Jones, nobody in the LHW division can. The only person with a slight chance i thought was Machida, but after his loss to Davis, that looks like a no no. Bones has the division on lock and thrown away the key!

Hear! Hear! I agree wit this dude 150%, they are always making it seem like this is the most amazing card ever that will get the most payperview buys (UFC100 they may never top!) and will be historical! Its almost like they are trying way 2 hard 2 be like the NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA, NASCAR in promoting these events. Those sports groups do hype things also but from a different perspective, they focus more on players, stats, history, and such. I can see the UFC is jumpin on the stat train as of late!

I do hope Gustaffson wins, I just hope he's ready to get back to his feet if Jones can take him down. Jones has a very clear advantage on the advancement of his grappling, but the difference will be in the striking. Jones will get close enough to clinch, throw elbows, a choke or a take down, while Gustaffson must circle and use his striking to clear that base of grappling and clinch game. I would also like to see Eddie Wineland win, guy has amazing striking, but I worry for his grappling.

The very reason Jones is so great is because he's super fucking calm. His emotions and his nerves and shit don't dictate his fight. He's able to remain calm and calculate everything he does, he's not being affected by adrenaline in a negative way. Plus he's just a big ass dude, so when he is taking his shots calmly he's doing them from half way across the cage with his freaky limbs lol

I was thinking that Jones is primarily a wrestler while Gustafsson is a striker. I wouldn't call him a "brawler," though, not even close. He's got great combinations that end in that devastating uppercut that is somewhat of his signature, and he is evasive with good foot work. He's always moving and attacking angles. He's been called the Dominique Cruz of light weight. It's likely not a coincidence. They train at the same gym.

Yupl! I got GSP at #1, the dude is average size for his division yet demolishes top ranked fighters and its been statistically proven that after he defeats them they are not the same fighter for a bit as they don't go on long winning streaks after they face GSP. Pettis will be @ #2 soon enough! I think he has the tools 2 beat Aldo, and that aside I see him defending the belt a few times in with unreal finishes/attacks! Grant is the only 1 I c as a problem cuz he is a monster for the division!

I'm so upset that Barao has been the interim champ for so long. In a way, it's not fair to take Dominick's belt away since he's injured, but it's also unfair for Barao to have to defend his interim belt. Barao should be promoted to the undisputed champ, then when Cruz is healthy he can fight for it.

Yeah Jones is not known for his KO power, he wins by smashing his opponents over and over again. Gustaffson while is great at using the jab and kicks does have some pretty impressive knock downs/KOs while standing. I think its gonna be a very back and fourth fight that will go the distance. Kind of like a more competitive version of Jones vs Evans or Jones vs Bonnar.

Well of course it affects the fighters negatively, but you can't say they dont. It's extremely easy for those LHW & HW guys (probably MW too) to pack on the lbs after they've weighed in. People like Urijah Faber are just outliers in their weight division.
@foresthanke44

You're right, I'm not understanding your argument. I'm saying that Jon Jones cuts 20-30 pounds in 24 hours, and gains almost all of it back in 24 hours. Since the weigh in is 24 hours before the fight, he can weigh in at 205, and actually weigh 220 or more when he steps into the cage. Do you disagree with any of this?

Silva is the only guy that can beat Jones. I also think Cain could as well in a super match. I don't buy into this last Silva loss nor do I buy into those Chael-Silva 1 or this last fight he had. Jones is always the favorite but he just can't help to show that he doesn't seem to be a good person, no matter how hard he tries to hide it. That's likely why he won't get more popular than he is. A guy like he should sell more PPVs than he does. Some people have it, others don't. He has it in the cage but not at all outside it.

You're right he doesn't weigh in at 220. They weigh in 24 hours prior to the fight. He dehydrates himself to make it to 205, then rehydrates himself after weighing in, weighing around 220 or more on fight day.

He beat every top name in his division. Hendo posed a problem with his wrestling but he couldn't capitalise at all. Vitor did next to nothing. The only time Chael looked good was when he was juicing and Weidman is just the lucky middleweight that took on Silva when he was messing around that much. Silva is the greatest UFC fighter of all time whether you like it or not.
