When I saw this fight live in January I would've never thought that it was gonna be his last. Crazy how one mistake takes everything away, jon jones was going to be the greatest MMA fighter in history, even surpassing Silva, it was just a matter of time and inevitable but now it's all just a memory. I'm not saying he won't come back but it will easily be a few years before he comes back. That's if he does...

@Redfield1999 жыл бұрын
Jones won. no doubt. but there is a question that needs to be asked : WHY the fuck didn't DC go for a takedown early on when he still had energy!?!?!? seems so unlogical to me. he got completly gassed towards the end and barely pulled that one slam off. weak performance DC. now sit down and shut up. Jones kicked your ass.

I couldn't agree more. DC, shut the fuck up!!!
@optimusman889 жыл бұрын
you should watch the post fight interview because DC answers it. to give you a short summary, he said his game plan was to keep close and the fact that jones was countering so well he did not expect that. he said jones looks and feels a lot bigger in the octagon. Even if DC had tried early into the rounds, Jones said even if he took me down what was he going to do. i was going to show everyone how good i can be on my back. Jones gave DC the fight he wanted and what DC and everyone else thought he was going to do to Jones...Jones did that to him.
@ramir3329 жыл бұрын
DC should have tried to spin Jon around for the takedown much like Gus did to Jon. In order to bring Jon down is to clinch then spin and drop much like Judo. DC didn't do that he just went forward and Jon stuffed it. DC did very poor in this fight. He tried but I think Jon's reach was breaking DC's will.
@tahitiantraveler19 жыл бұрын
Jones legs are long, in the clinch DC couldnt get a hold of them as they were so far back. It`s useless for anyone smaller to think they can defeat Jones. The truth is only a tall guy can give Jones trouble. Gus did good but gassed real bad by the end of round 3. All gus has to do is improve his cardio, to give him credit, he only had one 5 rounds fight and that was against Jones. DC did good but he couldnt keep the pace he had for the 1st 3 rounds. DC gassed up and jones has one hell of a gas tank.

Mr101money True. But I feel there's lots of guys capable of beating Weidman. Machida put up a great fight the last 2 rounds. And Jacare, Romero, and Rockhold are as tough as they come. We'll see.

Pierce Peel Machida also had experience from the past going into championship rounds. Jones is the true champion, he beats opponents at their OWN game. THe only way you can beat jones is by submission. Belfort knew that, cuz he knew he couldn't beat him at the standup, so he tried to submit, but failed. I don't see jones losing to cain if they fight. What does cain have, that dc doesn't, and they train day to day, so they are the same. I think he should fight the champ at middle weight if the middle weight champ wants to go up, or if Jones wants to go down, idk, but after he handles gust, and after gust handles rumble.
@happyhapa63489 жыл бұрын
JJ is great but a superfight with Weidman would be terrible. You say he should fight the champ at middleweight but he has enough on his hands making it to 205. Maybe if Weidman stepped up to 205 I guess but at middleweight, no. Even if this happens, the middleweight division is filled with contenders. It wouldn't be fair to them if the UFC schedules that. But I would love to see that.
@ky45599 жыл бұрын
Happy Hapa yeah, true, the middleweight division is stacked with a whole lot of fighters, that weidman has to handle, but I think the middleweight champ holds more of a threat than cain, it may be only me saying that, but idk.

What a Fight, what a War!!! These guys deserve all the Respect for this incredible clash! Jon Jones is a deserved WInner. He proved once more why he's the Champion for so long and to did this to a Great fighter like Cormier, who had never lost a round in his career, who fought so bravely in so many astonishing ways the best guys in the World, says a lot about the True Champion he is. I confess that I was expecting a bit more from Cormier, especially in his Wrestling game, but to take down a big guy like Jones is not easy at all. Cormier tried to short the distances and he did it a lot of times successfully, but not enough, mainly because Jones even in a short range had a better performance. I mean, those side kicks to the head in such a short range by Jones were incredible, to say the least, those elbows were so raging and damaging, it makes me feel bad for the person who's getting them. I don't see someone skilled enough, in this division, strong enough to overcome this Man. Jones is still young, he can still grow a lot in his game, I see him becoming stronger and more powerful in the years to come. As to Cormier, he must be very disapointed with himself, because he believed so much in his capacities to defeat Jones and become the new Champion. He wanted that belt so bad and it all fell down so quickly. I feel sorry for him, knowing that he worked so hard, believed so much in something and having to end like this, but at the end it can only be a winner crowned and Jones deserved it! I know Cormier will get his mind and body capacities to his full again, I certainly hope so and wish him so, for I hope to see him Fight again and have success in the future years!!!

Injured a pregnant lady and then ran away from the scene because he was so high he thought he could get away even with the documents in the used car proving he rented it. I'm objective. I don't really care either way who fights I just want to see an amazing fight. But you can't hate on Cormier and then love Jones that's just illogical. Overall Daniel is a better role model but he's far too emotional and ungrounded. Jones is cocky af (but he deserves to be, he's one of the best if not the best fighter EVER).

49-46. Jones will always be the true champion. DC keeps harping on about Jones' personal life. But come on, this is the fight life, where men get beat up and knocked out. This ain't tennis or golf this is the fight business. So i don't give a shit what Jones does outside the ring. He is still the greatest of all time

he said in the post fight press conference the knee to the body in the first round messed him up

Yea, he ate some real bad body shots. His fault for not defending them. He also ate like 7 superman punches straight through the middle that stunned him. Never defended. He's not worthy of a title, I was never super impressed by his performances. Hes better than everyone else, but Jones towers over the division. We'l have to see the Gus fight. Hes the only good challenge to Jones.

+Sloth Agreed. Jones is the best fighter, Anderson is the "greatest" (resume/legacy). Jon Jones could've been the best and greatest, but he pissed it away, the door is still open though, I really hope he does it. No doubt he'd have had the most consecutive title defenses by now if he wasn't careless.

Jones is the only fighter in the history of MMA who is unbeatable. Cain's lost, Silva's fucked around and got ko'd, DC's overrated striking is his weakness. Jon is a once in a lifetime kind of fighter.

Jones is a great fighter no doubt, but he is mostly a product of a gross flaw in the weight class system. He has 9 straight title defenses that speak for themselves. The only thing I wish is that he would fight more guys that are his height and reach. This is a major, major factor in his success. He fights guys 4+ inches shorter, and as many as 12 inches reach disadvantage. You have to be 3 times the fighter to overcome large height and reach disadvantages in any style fighting at expert levels. The only guy his height I have seen him fight was a guy 6'5 lean blond guy, and he even had a large reach advantage over that journeyman fighter. He beat the guy, but it was a close match. If he fought bigger longer guys he would not have anywhere near his record. He really is just a bigger guy fighting two classes below his size. I think commentators should show some integrity and point out the problem. He is a great fighter, but he is exploiting a big error in the weight class system.
@Ownage10679 жыл бұрын
Did you watch the fight? He stood in the pocket for the majority of it. He ate many of Cormier's uppercuts just to start kneeing him and elbowing him. Cormier got beaten at his own game, and out classed. Plain and simple.
@Josh-go5lu9 жыл бұрын
Find a guy with Jon's height and reach! Y'all do this every fucking time. This is what makes Jon so special, you can't find a guy that long, quick, athletic and smart anywhere.
@SkintoneChickenbone9 жыл бұрын
Jones showed why he is the best, Gustufson will get beat again. That's the only guy that you can compare him to.
@jaydoode159 жыл бұрын
I too believe this is true. Jones has been dominant against much smaller guys, he is very comfortable when he has the reach advantage. We could see this in the Cormier fight. He likes to use his long arms to push his opponents away. The only fighter that has been a threat to Jones is Gus and that is because Gus is a tall LHW like Jones. Cormier worked really hard to pick Jones up and Jones held on to the cage to avoid the takedown, add in an eye poke, and a few oblique kicks and other kicks from his long ass legs to keep Cormier at bay, it's no wonder he won this fight.
