Khabib is so good that when he doesn't maul or ragdoll his opponents in every round, it's considered a disappointing performance
@headbangerdnb
@headbangerdnb 5 жыл бұрын
This is so true. Like any fight, anything can happen, but outside of a devastating straight in the first round, I don't see how Dustin wins this fight. Khabib will grind and tire him out in the first two round until Dustin's arms feel like wet noodles after which his power is gone.

@headbangerdnb
@headbangerdnb 5 жыл бұрын
@@stanfen Unfortunately, he can't turn it down. If a champ turns down a fight with an interim-champ, not only does it look bad, but he'll almost certainly get stripped. Also, some weird shit happened with Tony. He was supposed to fight Max for the interim belt, but for whatever reason turned the fight down, hence why Dustin got the call. Tony turned the fight and caused this. Some will say that it was because he was going through some serious mental health and family issues at the time, but I don't buy that excuse considering he signed to fight Cowboy like two weeks later.

I love Dan Hardy but man that comment @ 3:31 made me cringe a little bit - "Khabib struggled through 5 rounds against Al Iaquinta" Oh my whenever people tell me that I wonder if they watched the same fight I did, or did they watch it in a parallel universe?. Khabib dominated every single round, played sparring 2 full rounds and still looked better than Al on his feet. The last person I asked specifically how did Khabib "struggle" in that fight, he said "Bruh, Khabib couldn't get Al on the mat 3 times he went for the single leg man!". I responded "What the fuck happened in rounds 1/2 and 5 then? didn't Al get mauled ? and Khabib won rounds 3 & 4 on his feet as well so where did he struggle exactly?" After a healthy back and fourth debate for about 15 mins that guy succumbed and said "Alright man he didn't struggle but it wasn't an easy fight". No shit sherlock.

@@mikeybigfoot1354 Diaz strikes nothing like Conor. I don't really know why they say Diaz is a 'genius' boxer. I'm not saying he's bad, he's a good striker but he's not really world class or anything and I'll say, Conor is a damn good boxer. His only negative is and always will be his cardio. Conor has some really crazy boxing skills, to be able to see and move the way he does in the midst of a fight is so hard. It might seem easy when watching on tv but when you're in there, it's absolutely different, no matter how much u train or shadowbox. Anyway I digress.

@@BurkeTrue2 Because other people can't simply see how a fight goes? You have to be an ex- UFC fighter and analyst? 50-43. All 3 scorecards. I don't need an analyst to tell me who struggled and who dominated. Pretty clear. If anything, he meant Khabib struggled by Khabib standards but still mauled Al. If yoy know what you are looking at, it was prettt blatant and obvious. Do you just mimic everything an analyst says because you don't know fighting literally at all? Why even watch if you don't understand what's going on? No disrespect intended, I just honestly don't understand the logic behind your comment.

Yep. Khabib told everyone after the fight that he had been watching a lot of Muhammad Ali footage that week, so he felt inspired to pop his jab and just fart around with his striking. The dude legitimately told the press this. But that’s the power of Joe Rogan’s sometimes awful commentary. It’s annoying. But I love Joe anyway.

I don't think Poirier should be counted out either, but people talk about him like he's going to be Khabib's kryptonite. If I had to put a percentage on it I'd say Dustin has a 20 or 25% chance of winning. E: And that's not meant to be a dig on Dustin, I just think Khabib has some crazy strength for a LW and incredible wrestling skills that can carry him through damn near any fight. Poirier is a bad dude, but I don't think he has an advantage over Khabib that he hasn't seen before. Happy to be proven wrong as long as the fight is great though.

The stakes are so incredibly high for both fighters! Khabib, in the middle of cementing his legacy as the greatest fighter ever (if he wins his next 3-4 against all top contenders, he has to be in that conversation) He's in front of his dad and in his home crowd in front of princes and sheikhs! Dustin's entire adult life has been leading to this one moment, his coaches have all sacrificed to make this probably their best training camp to date, and he is a living Rocky story, Dustin is promising victory and seems to really believe it. Good God. I'm pumped.

Well, I am not a "casual," and I think Poirier is definitely beatable. I have seen all of his losses over the years... and a few of his wins that were helped along, like Gaethje. I think the point is: Poirier never should have been here, but it is not his fault that's the case. He should be challenging against Tony in the first place. Dustin did everything he was supposed to; he earned this opportunity according to the terms the UFC set up, even if it was in a bullshit made-up "title fight" against an incumbent featherweight on a bad night. (It's not as if Ferguson couldn't have demolished Max that evening, let's be honest. It was not correct to ask Tony to risk the same as Dustin, having already won that belt and never lost it.). It certainly is not Dustin's fault that the UFC fools around fast and loose with this "Interim Belt" nonsense instead of maintaining its "Defend or Vacate" title legitimacy, and using interim titles as a #1 contender placeholder only for specific long-term situations like injury or suspension. There is nothing wrong with what Dustin did, and he had no obligation to face Tony (though Tony surely would have faced Poirier)-- he earned his way according to terms the UFC offered, so hopefully he makes the best of his chance. But, whether Poirier or Khabib wins... and until someone demonstrates that Khabib's tangle-up mauling can be beaten, he remains the favorite (i.e., Poirier has been decisively beaten, Khabib has not against all comers)... the UFC must schedule Ferguson for the next title defense *no matter what.* If the UFC does not allow Tony the next opportunity, then its rankings and contenders and titles simply lack legitimacy. Period. This is a terrible situation for both Dustin and Tony, really... but it's the UFC's ranking mismanagement, not the fighters' fault. TJ Dillashaw beat Renan Barao... so certainly Dustin has a chance. The margin of error for victory or defeat is small on this level of pankration... certainly Poirier has a chance, as any fighter on a good night can beat another fighter. But when I see, "Can we skip to Tony vs. Khabib?" I think any reasonable person knows: that should be the fight in the first place, Tony vs. Khabib. Four times, bad luck... so what? Schedule a fifth. A sixth. *Make it happen.* Anything else is excuses and illegitmacy. And this absolutely insane talk of "If Khabib wins, Conor should have a rematch" is totally ridiculous nonsense. The last Ferguson loss is over seven years ago-- with a broken arm. Twelve... come on. Ferguson would very likely beat Poirier (who would not fight Tony, but rather Diaz, which tells you Dustin is very smart ), and Ferguson is the legitimate challenger to Khabib (who would fight Tony). Ferguson has proven he deserves the next shot, be it Poirier of Khabib... no matter what. Dustin can take his opportunity and prove every doubter wrong if he beats Khabib... good luck to him. But if he does.... If he wins, then he *must face Ferguson* to have any legitmacy as champion. And if he loses, *we must see Tony vs. Khabib.*

I would honestly say Dustin has a better chance than alot of guys khabib faced. He's sturdier and stronger, has heavier hands and will be harder to drag to the ground than someone like Johnson or Raging Al. Dustin comes in well hydrated and heavier than weigh in weight and he still retains a full 5 rounds of gas and has the conditioning to work hard the entire time. And he's fought everyone and their grandmoms too. Granted, he started out at featherweight, but Danny Castillo, Korean Zombie, beat Max Holloway twice, Cub Swanson, Diego Brandao, Yancy Medeiros, Joe Duffy, Michael Johnson, Jim Miller, Conor McGregor, Eddie Alvarez twice (no contest first fight and won the rematch), Anthony Pettis, Justin Gaethje. Dustin has paid his dues and is most definitely a seriously battle hardened contender. The man can't just be written off as a gateway fighter. I'm not saying he'll win, but I have a feeling that even if he loses, I'm guessing he'll be the guy that gives Nurmagomedov the hardest fight to date. He's beaten 3 of the 4 champions he's fought. Pettis, Alvarez and Holloway. But lost to McGregor before he became champ.

Tony Ferguson had beaten Gleison Tibeau, Josh Thompson, Edson Barboza, and Lando Vannata. Then that same month, Khabib (ranked #2) fought against MJ (ranked #6) when Tony Ferguson(ranked 3) had just fought a week earlier against RDA(Then ranked #2) and who was just the champion. Tony should BE the Champion right now since they stripped Conor, and the fight between Al and Khabib should've been for an interim belt. That's power!

Dan Hardy is trying his best to give all the possibilities for Poirier on how to win a fight, poor Dan, he's referencing to Poirier's scrambling to defend takedows against other fighter, but everyone know that there is no one as good as Khabib in takedown and wresling in general, Dan is even talking about a possible cut like what happen to Max during the interim championship fight which was a complete different style of fight. He doughted Khabib's mind if he get hurt, we've seen Khabib got heavy hitten against Mickael Johnson but drove throught it easily with his pressure and wresling. And the best he said, Khabib struggled against Al, are you serious?!!! Was he supposed to get every takedown attempt successfully finished, come on he is not taking down a punching bag, Al's posture was very very low during the whole fight trying to avoid takedowns, even that he got down multiple times, and was not presenting a real threat in stand up, but Khabib was outboxing him. So, you can root for your fighter but not when you are doing fight analysis. At the end Poirier is a fenomenal fighter, high pace, great boxing, and still have his change beacause in a fight anything can happen, even Khabib said that, but man stop comparing Khabib wresling to anyone else. Just be more rational when you analyse Dan ;) I'm rooting for Khabib but wish good luck for both fighters as Dustin is also a great respectful person.
