31 attempts I think... It's not all about the eye poke but more of a threat of eye poke... there were only like 6 successful eye pokes in the first fight and maybe 4 in the second... none of them were sanctioned - company man bias as usual.

Zero time to brace, zero time to roll with it, his body just shut down because it had no idea what happened to it. Eye pokes don't knock people out. Love inside the octagon and both JG and DH are legends in their own rights.. Particularly DH's overseas studies of the MMA game in his early career shows just how dedicated he has become as a fight analyst and commentator... He shed tears for that dude the other day and did a 1-hour rebuttal of Dan Herb's stoppage but doesn't mention the blatant eye pokes by the UFC company man Daniel Cornea nor the devastating retina damage and consequent surgery suffered by Stipe.

Daniel won out of a mistake from Stipe. Stipe won because he dug down and actually defeated, crushed DC made him quit, did not make him unconscious just made him quit.... I like Daniel better but Stipe will win again

Cant see DC losing this one. He was winning the 2nd fight for the most part until Stipe adjusted brilliantly. 3rd will be more or less the same as 1 or 2, on DC side, but I dont think there will be a finish. DC wins the belt after 5 rounds, retires.

Stipe got KO’d a minute after getting poked in the left eye (and got hit with the right hand). Could that be why he didn’t see if coming?? Very possibly. But the second fight was very close back and forth and Stipe got lit up before he found that weakness in the left body shot.
