Feel for Stipe, but also happy for Francis. A weird feeling in MMA where you like both guys. I was rooting for Stipe, but I knew Francis could finish it at any point. He tightened up for this fight and looked great.

Such is the case for most champs. Just look at how Khabib and Connor used to be friends when Connor was champ, and how Jones and Ngannou were friendly to each other when Jones was champ.

it's possible but there are still a number of opponents ahead of him that Usman will surely face including rematches with Masvidal, Colby and Leon plus maybe Wonderboy so Luque probably won't be anytime soon or Usman might retire before it happens who knows?

It's also true. Don't know if anyone remembers Ngannou pre Stipe 1 fight. He was getting cocky and believed he would walk through him with ease. That 5 round fight mentally broke him for a while, made him get back into the gym and work hard to put on the performance he did that day.

@@benrobinson6954 They did tell him to get more aggressive though and to engage more, which he kinda did... in fairness though by the time Stipe heard that advice he had taken shots that woulda put most other men in coma's so i daresay its understandable he got reckless coz he had eaten absolute nuclear warheads from Francis, seen him wobble and got excited at the prospect of possibly being the first person to possibly finish Francis Via TKO or even KO, stupid mistake in hindsight but completely understandable, it'd have been some achievement, he learns from his mistakes though, in the rubber match if it happens he will have shored that issue up... plus when he comes back it wont be 7 months after a 5rnd war

It looked pretty awkward and gay(no hate) I mean deep down you expect these things when you step into the ring with a guy like Francis, or even after the first round this must have been a possibility deep down in their minds, the rest of his corner men knew this. If at all Ngannou was winning this fight it was definitely by knockout. He ain't gonna last 5 rounds or pull off a submission. So his reaction was a little cringe.

As long as Usman remains the champion, nobody is touching the belt. Fortunately for everyone else Usman may not be around for much longer, he has problems with his knees which aren't getting better plus his legacy is setting in stone. Usman might be gone by next year, opening the door for young guys like Vicente to snatch the belt.

Erick Nicksick & Dewey Cooper are great coaches! Dewey is a former K1 World Champion Kickboxer-people don’t know that but for sure Dewey’s one of the best trainer’s in the fight game & know’s what he’s doing (he’s got pro boxing contenders and champions he trains too). Usman is a good dude for taking time away from his own training camp to corner Ngannou. Ngannou is gonna smash World HW MMA records, maybe even KO pro boxing champ’s too.

Because a wounded tiger is always more dangerous. And also fighters train and they develop themselves. and a fighting coaches wont let their fighter go in very complacent just because the first fight was a pushover, and everyone knows if Francis had a chance it was by KO. No way was Francis going to get a decision after 5 rounds.
