Except Aljo should have never won. He was outstruck. Landed 43 punches all night, had 7 minutes of ground control, & had 20 of his takedowns stuffed. It’s actually unreal how he won that fight, it doesn’t even make sense.

@ Daily Dose of MMA In the case of a draw, the person who walked into the fight with the strap walks out with the strap. Look at Thomson vs Woodley 1. Aljomain retained the strap and successful defended the title even if it was a draw.

Sterling was getting absolutely dominated on his feet, he was absolutely broken as a man and turned into a female holding Petr yan down the entire fight, back to back 3 full minutes of not letting petr on his feet, if you ask me he is a bitch and not a man.

I think it was more so his performance outside the octagon after the fight(interviews etc) that made people really hate him lol. It was always about character and how he carries himself.

@@MrB4235 you don’t understand mma, most of those takedowns didn’t have the intention of taking down petr, it’s to cause level changes and confuse Peter so he doesn’t know where the fight is going. Also takedowns are a way of defence by clinching and avoiding strikes

Dude is a crazy good grappler with bjj. Aljo is a legit fighter, I still thought yan would win and still think he’s the overall better fighter. I couldn’t believe he made it out of round 2 and then gave up his back again in round 3. I’m honestly surprised he gave it up after all after their first fight, but Aljo fought smart and yan a bit more on angrier side.

Man, what I love about this fight was the respect from Aljo during the fight. Aljo almost eye poked yan during an early round and immediately apologized and waited to make sure it wasn’t an actual poke. Glad he proved the haters wrong

He won by running and humping. Yeah he won rounds 2 and 3. And looked good. But on the feet, he had no really good moments, Yan was the one moving forward and landing at a higher rate on the feet. Yan controlled Aljo on the ground for rounds 4 and 5. I don’t see how he won this.

@@TheJstroud24 Round 1 was close but aljo outstuck Yan 20-13 in round 1 and controlled him in rounds 2 and 3. I really wouldn't call taking someone's back and locking in a body triangle and fighting for a RNC humping. It was a close fight and could've went either way.

I love how both Joe Rogan and Bruce Buffer say he is NOW the undisputed champion. That's really what this fight was about for Sterling and regardless of who you thought won and who was your favourite you gotta admit, that must've been a hell of a feeling for him. I'm kinda proud of him right now! He proved himself to the doubters. And they're still gonna say Yan won, but MAN, I don't wanna hear anyone saying Sterling can't hang with Yan anymore, cause he just did for five whole rounds, and even made him VERY uncomfortable.

Idk, he had 2 rounds of majority control but never really threatened from the back. I was surprised at the decision. Yan had almost as much total control time and way more impressive and damaging strikes.

I was for or against either of them but to say he destroyed Yan is a bit of a reach. He literally grappled the 2&3 rounds and did nothing while there. He got beat up the 4&5 rounds. The 1st round could have went either way. But no one destroyed anyone. It was a solid fight. Aljo needs to work on his standup to be a well rounded fighter. @@BrianForTheWin i disagree. yan may have been pushing the pace, but all he was doing really was chasing him around and not landing any meaningful strikes, especially not to the head. aljo outstruck him and yan wasnt exactly getting control, he wasnt cutting off the octagon or anything, really just marching towards aljo

@@alexejgo1842 4&5 were all Yan, 2&3 were all Sterling. That means it's down to the first, and although he was pressuring, Yan landed almost nothing. All 3 judges had it for Sterling in the 1st. The Weasel does a pretty good breakdown of the round as well.

@@sullieking lmao fr he's a black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu and literally went for a takedown in every exchange in the last rounds, he couldn't do anything other than hope yan would eventually forget that he's gonna shoot every single time, obviously cause Sterling had no standup chance with yan, and was getting picked apart, out of 22 takedown attempts he got 2, and did little to nothing with them. but ufc rules are ufc rules, he won and he gets to live without making a statement on what he can do that we haven't seen

Sterling won 3 rounds. I got him round 1,2 and 3. He's in a very good shape in this fight and has improved a lot. His grappling's on another level. Have a mad respect on Yan too. Both are great fighters! At the end Sterling proved everybody wrong same like Juliana Pena vs Nunez. Never understimate the underdog!

I been defending Aljo for months but come on man. Go home. The fight coulda gone either way and it wouldnt have been a robbery. It’s subjective. One judge coulda said 2nd rd was 10-8 for almost being finished. One judge would say Aljo didnt do enough damage. Another would say Aljo won rd 1 and another would say Yan. There was no “clearly”. I thought it would go to Yan just to sell fight #3 tbh.

Round 1 was lost by Yan, it is a problem that persists in all his fights. He uses it to measure and barely push his opponent. He lost that round against Aldo, Sandhagen and Aljo the first time.
