here is another one the hugging contest was all about a boxer's punch to the face without a glove, imagine what would happen if a real boxer like Pacqiuao or Tyson has a piece of your cute face, the hugging contest is over in a second.

I love this fight! This is when people thought no rules fighting would be a complete blood fest and fists flying. But it turned out Brazilian jiu jitsu was so superior it would cancel out every other martial art. So many of the UFC rules today is to cancel out the superiority of the Gracie family technique so there are more knockouts. Even today so many world champions come from the wrestling world, they have to hold them back so the audience get their fist fights. If they didn't, graplers would rule most of the weight classes. Just as Connor about the one man who took his belt and he still does not want to try to win it back :)

Thats because the Gracies ran the show and made the rules. this fight shoulda been stood up so many times. and the 1 time it was Shhamrock rocked him. after the gracie family made up the ring side rule of OT. thinking it would benefit Royce. Luckily big John was smart enough to stand it up. which im sure the Gracies hated. the fact there was a time limit and no judges is ridiculous. Shamrock won the fight. Gracies are frauds. just like they told Shamrock in the 1st fight he couldn't wear his boots because the were weapons. yet Gracie and his Gi he uses to choke ppl is ok. Thank God Matt Hughes put Gracie in his place.

The art of combat sports has evolved so much. If this fight happened today, they would have been stood up after the first 3 minutes of the fight, Gracie without the gi wouldn't be able to hold on nearly as long as he did and this fight probably never even happens because Gracie is fighting above his weight class in this fight.

By not being able to get his head up, he couldn’t really throw the blows. Gracie was trying to work his left wrist under Ken’s throat (while holding the left arms gi) and he wanted to grab his right arms gi with his left hand, choking Ken, but Ken was blocking with his left hand. There wasn’t a lot of flashy action, but there really was a lot going on. By the end of the fight though, momentum with was with Ken all the way.

And May have lost to suzuki, who was a japanese champion in Pancrece. Shamrock amazing with his heel and leg hooks and spins.

@MyZ001
@MyZ001 11 ай бұрын
So, it's funny but he only mitigated BJJ by not doing anything but staying in his guard. It's basically like all you have to do to mitigate boxing is stay in the clinch. Or even worse if one boxer just stands just out of striking range and not throwing any punches. Like, yea it'll work and you wont lose. But, then it's not a fight anymore. And, you wont win either. And, thats the equivalent of what Shamrock did. He just sat there. This is why there have been "stalling" rules implemented in grappling sports. if the only goal is too "survive'" the other person, then WTF are we doing here? This is is a spectator sport dammit😆

Skip to the end to see how the crowd react to this, my sentiment is there's only two moments worth watching in this fight, the moment when shamrock beats the fuck out of Gracie and visibly humiliated him for being one dimensional and the boo's from the crowd who had to sit there and watch this garbage.

All these people complaining about the standup rule, this was back when the ufc focused more on the fighting aspect where they didn’t try and interfere with anyone else’s styles and just allowed them to do what they do. Also people don’t realise how much of a disadvantage wearing a GI can be in a fight as it can be used to choke the wearer out as well as throw them ferociously. I agree that it’s not as entertaining to watch but bjj was invented as a self defence style, if wearing your larger opponent down is the most effective way to win then I suppose that’s what you’ve gotta do.
