the fact that brock managed to tank carwin's punches to the point that carwin got tired before brock got knocked out is absolutely incredible. can you imagine what is going through carwin's mind, a guy who could very easily knock out most people with one well placed punch, he pummelled lesnar for a solid minute, and then he stands up. thats some horror movie shit

I've grown to appreciate Lesnar's UFC career. With only one MMA fight under his belt, he signed with the highest level of MMA competition UFC and debuted against their former heavyweight champion. In just a few fights defeated one of the greatest heavyweights ever Couture for the championship and defended it twice against Mir and the undefeated Carwin. Remember he began his MMA career at the age of 30 and jumped straight into the deep end

He obviously had the wrestling down but still that’s insane to have little to no training compared to guys who have done this practically their entire life. Lesnar was intelligently defending himself from Carwin during round 1, which allowed him to recover position and stay in it to win it. Carwin won the first round easily but did not win the fight by any reasonable evaluation.

This is the fight where I realized Lesnsr was not what he was before - that’d he hadn’t fully recovered. The overreaction to the knee…..But it’s also where he showed intestinal fortitude and skilled strategy to reverse a bad start.

What a lot of folks don't realize is that when Lesnar was on the ground, he was telling the ref, "I'm good, I'm good" which let the ref know he was still in it.

Fighter also get knocked out cold and get up and question why the fight was stopped the ref isn’t there to ask if he’s okay he’s there to prevent them from killing each other and 9 times out of 10 a fighter will lie or keep going despite there physical shape they’re willing to die in the cage it’s the ref’s job to stop it before any real damage can be done this is a recipe for cte 😭

The atmosphere and the anticipation of fights during this era is incredible. Don't get me wrong there are lot of great fights and even greater and technical fighters now compared to the past but damn, I miss the era of 2005-2012 era of the UFC. I miss this kind of crowds and the hype of every fight is unbelievable even though it's quite not technical yet.

Crazy that Brock had no mma training prior to the ufc and came from the wwe. That’s why Brock’s striking looked stiffer than most but once it got to the ground he flowed like butter.

Frank Mir is washed up even in his prime. Randy coutoure wasn't really a heavyweight, he was a light heavyweight. Brock bested mark hunt on steroids and knew that Mark couldn't wrestle. Shane carwin was the only legitimate fighter and Brock took advantage of shane gassing himself out. Otherwise, Brock got whopped by Alistair, Cain and could have been junior too.

Honestly still for me one of the greatest UFC fights ever. Brock had the presence. Watching now after all these years still gives me chills. Two absolute hulks of humans going at each other full throttle. With a pure power and strength come back at the end. Chills and emotion off the charts!

Are you serious ? that's terrible, the biggest names in HW were so bad technically in this time.. That's a total mess, how could you think that's of the greatest fight ever..I mean ok that's your opinion but i don't get it. Lesnar is probably just the worst HW champ ever.. even if he was charged AF. And his striking is so lame, damn.. big muscles but 0 power when he throws.. he only had great wrestling that's all.. @@Le_Fullmetal yeh he has less experience inside the ring. He barely fighted 4-5 matches that time. But in that time he kick those best on list HW sssses. He lacks experience only, otherwise but still wins. Technically he was poor but functionally he was better than whole ufc. Means in body power, stamina, speed. And with those things only this guy become the HW champion of world. That ain't no small thing dude. That's like a random guy like u becoming the HW champion

The sheer heart of Lesnar got him through the match. He was badly beaten up in the first round but the way he makes a comeback is incredible.

Carwin was a total beast, knocked out Mir, Gonzaga etc, but Brock proved he was a tremendous athlete being able to adapt to MMA and actually won + defended his title in only several fights.
