Chad looked phenomenal this fight. The fact Aldo beat this version of Chad is incredible and one of Aldo's greatest accomplishments.

People forget how Good of a Fighter Chad Mendes was in his Prime. For Aldo to have beat him the way he did, just shows how GREAT Aldo is. I love Volk & Holloway too, but I’m convinced this version of Chad Mendes, beats anyone not named Jose Aldo.

@@Ricatonniisasavage8854not in my opinion. Both of these guys looked strong and fast but not near as sharp, calculated, and polished like volk or max. I got max rn or prime volk beating the other prime chad or Aldo
@Ricatonniisasavage88547 ай бұрын
@@ryanhalvorsen6497 people really sleep on how good Mendes was on that small run he went on after the first Aldo loss. Even against Lamas, he was an Animal. Also, 2011-2013 Aldo was a whole different Beast. It would be a tough test for Volk or Holloway to withstand the Vicious Leg Kicks and Fast Hands of Aldo. I’ve always thought Aldo straight out of the WEC up to the Second Mendes Fight, is one of The Greatest Fighters ever of The Lighter Weight Classes. Volk in his Prime was a Beast too, but gah, the Aldo that beat Hominick, Ken Flo, and even Frankie the first time, would be a tough task for him.
@ryanhalvorsen64977 ай бұрын
@@Ricatonniisasavage8854 I could see prime Aldo or Mendez beating prime max or volk but if I was betting my money. I bet on max or volk. I think the amount of game plan and steady out put would be too much for Aldo or chad. Chad and Aldo were fast and strong but I think the game plan wins for the newer guys

not even close... sure it had good moments but they were both holding back by the end and mostly just dancing around... there was no savage desire to win at all costs like some fights. Too much smiling and fist bumps and patting each other on the back... that's not a real hard out fight. Not even close. Aldo never deteriorated in skill, the game just evolved. The man retired #3 in the world at Bantamweight. He has always been in his physical prime, it’s just other championship level fighters started catching up to his skill level.
@alfredomunoz69544 ай бұрын
@@zaccaeus8426 Honestly Aldo was my favorite fighter but I can say with full honesty his skill didn't deteriorate but his body did Father Time caught up to him if you look at Aldo before and after you can see a major difference I'm not taking away any credit towards the new talent but Aldo was just out of his prime(this is not including recently) but yes Aldo was and still is a goat
@zaccaeus84264 ай бұрын
@@alfredomunoz6954 For a fighter that debuted 20 years ago, Aldo has evolved with the sport very well. He’s still one of the Top 10 Bantamweights in the world in 2024. Of course, his body is not gonna perform as it did in his early twenties (like any professional athlete), but his fast twitch muscle fibre responses are still shockingly, blindingly fast, and his boxing IQ has grown tremendously since working with the Brazilian Navy after the Petr Yan loss. I think he’s a far more skilled fighter than he was in his prime. Where he used to hit people with brutal calf kick “dutchie” combos, now he flow checks better than anyone and counters with insane boxing combinations. Like any fighter he has evolved, but the truly elite pound-for-pound athletes of today like Holloway, Volkanovski, Dvalishvili and Yan have surpassed him in size, athleticism and skill, which is just the way of this kind of competitive sport.
@Slim-Clips3 ай бұрын
@@zaccaeus8426 You obviously never watched prime Aldo then. His reactions and cardio noticeably started tanking hard after the two Holloway fights.
@zaccaeus84263 ай бұрын
@@Slim-Clips I watched all of his career from him soccer kicking guys in Rio to kneeing Rolando Perez in the WEC, to running literal circuits around Frankie Edgar. And of course, over a 20 year career there is gonna be some physical decline. But the ways he adapted his style to work around that and still even at 37 is reinventing himself. It’s disrespectful to the legend to say his prime is over when he’s still Top 10 Bantamweight 20 years after he debuted. Like that kinda longevity in the lighter weight classes definitely puts him high on the GOAT list, he had a better 2nd half to his career than Fedor and GSP.

Chad shower the blue print to bear Conor. I think Chad made the mistake of going for a finish, Chad was dominating with take downs and was sat landing elbows on McGregor almost at will for 80% of round 2, he tried to go for a submission but Connor escaped and got a great KO, but I feel if Chad just grinded out the rounds and sat on top he would’ve won decision. He already won round 1 and most of round2 with his superior wrestling skills.

Mendes did great. I just feel that he relied a bit too much on his rear uppercut. He had success with the lead jab and teep to the body (should've used it more). Also, his leg kicks were too naked. He'd do better if he faked the jab and maybe a fake cross before a leg kick or teep. Great performance from Aldo though. Good fight.
