The lightweight division is filled with insane fighters but Max is a LEGEND 👏 I still remember having him as the last fight in my Stake parlay when he knocked Gaethje out cold with one second left on the ️🕰️ Remembering that still gives me chills to this day 🥶

This year allown 155 had the 3 best fights of the year. Islam vs poirier. Max vs geathje. Ribovic vs zellhuber. 155 also produced this year the submission of the year and possibly the greatest ko in ufc history. Islam Insabe submission move in poirier. Max ko of geathje. Greatest division in mma for more than 15 years. Its also division with great personality like moicano and many others.

Special mention for guram's last fight and win which was a war he almost lost, but in the 3rd round he pulled off a crazy move i never seen before. That fight was another banger of 155 in 2024 as well.

@@GregoryMcadams-m4b not even close lmao. It was possible the best KO in UFC history, but there have been tons of fights this year alone that were more exciting. The fight was entertaining, but it mostly a one sided fight with the last 10 seconds being insane.

Khabib posted on his story the day of Islam vs dustin that Poirier was one of his favourite fighter ever and the highlight clip he Chosed was dustin koing mcgregor 😂 Max holloway is also one of khabib's favourite fighter. Khabib, geathje, poirier and max always showed enormous respect for each other. The only ones of their generation who are full of bitterness, envy, jealousy and hate are : mcgregor, tony ferguson, diaz.

Nah it’s been the toughest division since way before that. Since the days of champs like GSP, Anderson and Jones who defended their belt many times, lightweight champs still have only defended at most 3 times.

Both Islam and Khabib beat the holders of the belt even if they’re not considered champions, they were the first to beat them. Khabib was the first to defeat Mcgregor while Islam beat charles.

Anything above Welterweight is clown divisions 😂 The gulf in skill level is so wide. A fighting style like DDP would be destroyed by anyone in the top15 in lightweight. Jiri doesn't even do proper defense when he became champ, only in such a shit division can he get away with that. Dustin would have cleared them all out if he was physically able to be in those divisions

Dustin's weird way of defense would get him knocked out in a heavy weight or lhw fight. The shots he took from hooker, imagine if he took those shots from prime Gustafson who is a similar type fighter to hooker but with way more power and way better boxing offence and defense. Imagine Holloway at lhw, he gets hit the most out of any UFC fighters, imagine him at lhw, Alex would send him into the oblivion even if Holloway was 6'4. Yeah they would have more power but they get hit and at lhw you can't do that shit. The shots Islam took from volk, imagine if he was fighting magomed, he would sleep makachev bad.

Same goes with people who compare Jones title defenses with 155 title defenses. Jones only managed to defend that many times because of lack of skill of his opponents, Pereira has 3 title defenses at 205 if he was fighting at 155 he wouldn't even be a champion.

Tbh i don't like khabib that much, Alex is more entertaining for sure and has beaten many champions, but the level of the fighters is miles ahead different. RDA, Edson, MJ, Connor, Dustin, Justin all of them are well-rounded fighter and they compare it with people like Hill, jiri, and Khalil? bruh

@kyledabearsfan , I meant if he was same size Poirier or Gaethje, Pereira couldn't be champ with his skill set. Its impossible to be champ at 155 with 4 MMA fights, if someone was champ at Bellator or PFL and came to UFC then maybe but without extensive MMA experience its impossible to be champ at divisions between 135-170, DC started MMA after 30 years old, DC couldn't be champ if he was 155 lbs size as well.

Current UFC Lightweight division may very well be the most talent-rich division of any promotion, in any combat sport, in history. The fact that someone as bad (as in gifted in violence, calm yourselves) as Dustin Poirier wasn’t an undisputed champion in this division speaks volumes. Also, whoever’s managing this channel deserves a bonus from Dana himself. Very nicely done.

Not anymore. Poirier retired, don't know when Gaethje will fight next, even if he does he at most has one more fight left him in, and Makachev barely fights. Don't know when and if we will see max at lightweight again. The only one exciting left in the division right now is Charles.
