@@thirtythreeyears definitely not. pantoja takes rd 1 and 5, but 2,3,4 should all go erceg imo. pantoja gets some control time in round 2 but the last half is all erceg landing clean shots. round 3 is close for the first few minutes then erceg lands a huge elbow that splits pantoja open, erceg wins the round on damage. round 4 clear erceg round

@ splitting him open isnt a round winning criteria? Erceg was at no point close to finishing the fight, he got outlanded and controlled in round 2 and 3 his only good shot in round 2 was an elbow, the rest were shots on Pantojas guard, Pantoja outlanded him and hit him with a clean hook on the chin, and of course controlled him, they were by no means “clean shots” just because one got through Round 4 for sure Erceg but Round 3 was even less competitive than 2, this isnt a damage based sport, the only way to trump all other criterias would be to drop your opponent or get extremely close to finishing the fight in a round, Erceg never did that

Finally someone said it, agreed 100%. Erceg going for that takedown in the 5th round is pound for pound one of the worst decisions you could make in a title fight. It may have very well cost him his career. Idk if he gets an another shot at the title anytime soon.

@ Erceg got the title shot because Dana wanted to quickly get rid of Pantoja as a champ, used him as a “hitman”, same as he did with Aljo vs Cejudo and Aljo vs Suga, hes doing it again twice in a row with Pantoja vs Erceg and Pantoja vs Asakura

There’s no way pantoja won 2,3 or 4. Erceg won this on on damage easily, it’s a damage based scoring criteria.

Erceg won this fight. Even the last round, he caused significant damage with the elbow. Alex did nothing with the reversed takedown. Steve’s mistake was going for takedowns. Still should have won

Round 2 coin toss ? Erceg won it even tho it was competitive. Control time with no damage means nothing when if u get outsriked. Even Felder said it when Erceg g’escaped the body lock from the back. Round 3 Pantoja 😂 ? Damage trumps all, that cut gave Erceg the round. Round 4 Erceg. Round 5 is the only close round and since damage trumps all, Erceg should have won it with the second cut he inclicted to Pantoja.

And u can even give him the fifth round to Erceg with the second cut on the eyebrow (damage trumps all : MMA unified rules). So it’s 3-2 Erceg, potentially even 4-1. The judges sucks.

@@GoosebumpsMMA damage does not trump all. If it did many fights would be scored differently but that's beside the point. Pantoja had very clear rounds if you jump off of the meat of erceg. The damage was alr but wasnt pertinent through every round. Fights are scored on rounds

It’s crazy that a takedown in the 3rd round was the difference in this fight.. rd 1 clearly pantoja, rd 2 clear erceg, rd 4 clearly erceg, rd 5 clearly pantoja. rd 3 decides the fight and erceg was ahead with that nasty elbow that cut pantoja open until he got taken down for the last minute of the rounds. crazy that the wrestling control with minimal damage outweighs a massive elbow that cuts open the head 😅

What are people even watching😂 his only highlight in the UFC is knocking out Matt Schnell, which my Nan has done. Didn’t impose his will in this fight and just let Pantoja take over whilst throwing like 8 strikes a round and randomly shooting at all the wrong times. Then he got flatlined by Kai Kara France as easy as Cody Garbrandt. I want you to actually try and describe what’s so exciting about Erceg because I think you genuinely wouldn’t be able to.

This is the proof that mma KZbinrs and the UFC commentary crew doesn't know shit. Pantoja won this fight easily 4-1 (round 4 was kinda of close, but Erceg appeared more active) according to the criteria that is actually written in the rules. But people really don't like good fighters or great champions, they prefer clowns like O'Malley and Strickland.

@@oldmancho8530 This is the sight of casual that doesn't know the sport as I said before. Cosmetic damage is one of the last points in the scoring criteria. Pantoja won this fight easily with the grappling progressing in position and won a few of the rounds in both volume and stronger hits to the head and body. Taking someone's back, getting into full mount, getting multiple takedowns is not "hugging somebody". If you want to see stalling during grappling you should see Mario Bautista. Pantoja won on one of the easiest fights to score this year by anyone with a 3 digit IQ.
