Curtis may have landed more in round 2 but Allen had bigger impact with his shots, Curtis just took them well. Curtis also rocked Allen in round 3 but Allen overall landed a lot more. So very close rounds, but I do see the argument for Curtis 2,3,5. (The grappling wasn’t really much of a factor, no real sub attempts I’d count as effective). But Allen won on my scorecard.
@too_sturdy3 ай бұрын
This showed Allen's evolution as a fighter. He's on a 7 fight win streak right now. Beat Craig, Silva, Muniz, Daukus, Holland, Curtis so now the only man to defeat him in the UFC is Sean Strickland. That was his 4th fight too.
@m3rl7073 ай бұрын
How the hell did they give round 5 to Allen. Curtis pieced him up on the feet, controlled him on the ground and landed some shots to the body until he injured himself in the last 10 seconds. Thats bs judging

Round 5 was not that clear cut, I scored for Allen because of the takedowns and final exchange where Curtis was shelling up. Very very close fight, a FOTY contender imo
@cmathews59092 ай бұрын
@@johntolbert8467 You new? Take downs are nada without strikes or at least a sinking in a sub attempt, and they certainly don't trump the damage accumulated from significant strikes through the round.
@johntolbert84672 ай бұрын
@@cmathews5909 like I said it’s when coupling those takedowns with the final exchange that gives Allen the round imo (all 3 judges scored 5 for Allen btw) he threatened subs with the first td and spent time on the back hunting subs with the last big td. When striking is relatively even you have to score different factors, I agree the takedowns are not as relevant as effective damage, but, in close fights sometimes multiple factors are needed to determine who won razor close rounds, and Allen had the bigger moments in that final round.
@cmathews59092 ай бұрын
@@johntolbert8467 bruh, how judges score 5 in a 10 point must system? One guy is going to a 10 for winning the round, and the other will get a 9 or 8. If a fighter took 7 point round he was beaten so badly he's not going to survive the next round, so you pulled 5 out of no where. Per 2019 Unified Rules "Effective Striking/Grappling shall be considered the first priority of round assessments. Effective Aggressiveness is a ‘Plan B’ and should not be considered unless the judge does not see ANY advantage in the Effective Striking/Grappling realm. Cage/Ring Control (‘Plan C’) should only be needed when ALL other criteria are 100% even for both competitors." Allen started grappling cause he was losing the standup, and when he had Curtis on the ground he failed to do damage, or actually attempt to sink the choke. Constantly positioning your arms to threaten a choke will not end the fight, therefore its not effective. Furthermore, if you take time to read on, reversals void take downs and the guy who reversed scores on the reverse alone. Per 2019 ~ " It shall be noted that a successful takedown is not merely a changing of position, but the establishment of an attack from the use of the takedown.

@JayDee-k8m Fighting is scored off of damage, duration, and dominance. Curtis did more damage with his strikes over all, and when Allen took him down more often than not he did not do much with it. After round 2 there as a clear shift in energy in this fight.

@JayDee-k8m HAHAHA!! Wrestling is not a scoring criteria, bub, and no, he did not out strike him other wise he wouldn't have been shooting Hail Mary take downs in the 4th and 5th rounds to save his life. Damage and ring generalship are the top scoring criteria under Unified Rules, and Allen face, and constant retreating sums that score.
@cmathews59092 ай бұрын
@JayDee-k8m To be honest, the fight was over in the third when Curtis punched Allen in his left eye, and then Allen stopped the fight holding his right eye. Ref restarted the fight when the tape saw no foul. Under the Unified Rules, if a fighter stops the fight and there is no foul, he forfeits the competition and is no different than a sub. Maybe you should learn the rules; it makes the game better.
