@@joshywhvick bjj only works if you can successfully take someone down. Max has amazing take down defense and Volk has a good wrestling background. Brian needed to learn some effective wrestling take downs or judo throws to make his bjj more effective but he never did that.

17:25 is one of the most iconic and hilarious Holloway moments ever... he stops Ortega mid fight from fighting to give him tips on how to block... it takes Ortega a few sec to realize what's going on and then snap out of it. this and "I'm the best boxer in the UFC!!!" are two of the mind blowing moments ever to happen in the octagon... except for Diaz laying down mid fight vs Anderson Silva.

It's wild because you have an eagle eye view, he's cage side with obstacles in his way that you don't have. He's also a human prone to error and an older drug addled man, his commentary is going to go down hill at some point if it hasn't already. .

I really don't know who is more biased, you or Joe. Knowing that Max doesn't need any kind of uplifting from the commentary team, I would say Joe was absolutely unbiased throughout the fight.

Tbf Ortega stung max end of rd 1 and in rd 3 was just marching forward and was stunning max. So Joe just called it as he saw it, wasn’t just him they all were saying “ooooh”‘etc

Everybody (including myself) only recalls this due to the amount of strikes and how amazingly Holloway fought. I'm taking nothing away from him for that, but we need to gives more props to Ortega, not only for taking those shots but let's be real this wasn't a totally one-sided fight, he had some really good moments and had Max in real trouble at one point in the 3rd, he has such tremendous toughness and so much heart.

The third round was Ortega's best round, no doubt about that. However he had Max in trouble for how long, 5 seconds? He landed a few good hits that didn't faze Holloway that much neither and then he landed a takedown, with Max getting up straight away. I wouldn't say he had Max in real trouble here

Ortega definitely won round 3 in my opinion. Getting into the championship rounds, he was empty though. A couple of those punches moved in slower than my grandma walking down the block.

He got his ass kicked, but I'd be lying if that shit was not inspiring. I train muay thai and some boxing at a nearby gym, and I remember some guys talking about how Holloway was a monster during this fight, but they also talked about the heart Brian Ortega showed. A lot of those guys said they'd quit if they were in the position Ortega was in, but at the same time it's what every fighter wants. To show the heart they have, the dedication to training, the will to win. It was honestly beautiful, I'm getting teary eyed just remembering. I hope Ortega doesn't suffer long term effects. He represented what most of us fighters want to leave as a legacy in the ring

I love how most of max Holloway’s fights take place right in the centre of the ring. The realest, none of that take you down and maul shit, he got straight hands. Super huge respect for max and he was pretty underrated still before 300 at least
