Even though it was in 1995, they didn't touch on the fact that "King of the Streets" Marco Ruas won UFC 7. He was the first fighter to really utilize leg kicks in the octagon even getting TKO stoppage using them that night. He then went on to train perhaps the fighter with the greatest and heaviest leg kickers of all-time Pedro Rizzo. Ruas is a somewhat forgotten legend in MMA history.

Oleg got done worse. Ruas got some clips and his name mentioned once for Ultimate Ultimate, Oleg got completely glossed over for winning UFC 6. Honestly goofy that both guys aren't in the UFC HOF. @@cviasco8571 and the 1994 vid was 20 mins even though 1994 has less events. Either make it longer or trim some fat like all the time they gave Royce/Shamrock at the start.

@ibezzant In these early days of the UFC each fighter just had a style but Marco Ruas was the first Mixed Martial Artist, a hybrid of sorts. He was proficient in *everything* and pretty much ahead of his time at the time. I started seeing the shift in fight IQ after seeing how well Keith Hackney did against Royce Gracie in UFC 4 then Ken Shamrock imo beating Royce in the rematch in UFC 5 even though they called it a draw. Really happy I was able to see this play out back then even though it was banned.

First fight I saw was at a party back in the early 2000s. Some guy I didn't know at the party showed me the UFC and I was instantly hooked. I watched UFC all night in the basement and didn't rejoin the party. I've been hooked ever since.

It's weird because there was an MMA promotion called SHOOTO which was about from 1985 (8 years before UFC). It had weight classes, well rounded mma styles and also not much BJJ but Catch Wrestling, Sambo and Judo instead. They were well ahead of their time. The UFC and Gracie family want people to FORGET about SHOOTO.

I remember watching Gracie vs shamrock live on ppv. My mind couldn't get my head wrapped around a fight with no winner. But hey growing pains right. I was 13 years old when that fight happen. Boy has the sport evolved.

I remember being at the very first ufc event and thinking how awesome it was and hoping that they would keep doing them. 30 years later and here we are. I am very lucky to have attended many ufc events and extremely blessed to have a career working for the ufc. I never thought it would get this big but im sure glad that is has. I wouldn't have all the things i have if it wasn't for them. Congratulations on 30 years. Ufc for life baby!!

UFC should be as real as it can be without it being in the streets un hinged. they should create an organization where there are no weight classes. in the real world you don't chose to fight or not because of the size of the man. the UFC already has proven weight or size doesn't always matter.

They didn't fight like savages they didn't do shit. Gracie sat in closed guard and shamrock layed on top. That horrible match was a catalyst for rounds and referee being able to break people and stand them up lol

1995: the year i Saw my first UFC as a teenager 😌 I'll always have a huge amont of respect for these old school legends and fighters both in the UFC and in brazilian vale tudo (Pelé Landi and Wanderlei Silva started in the brutal vale tudo competition)! They paved the way for the new generation and while they were less technical or athletic it was much more brutal back in the days!
