Rockhold could have been a great champion! He had an ideal physique, towering over his opponents whilst also packing an impressive amount of muscle and power, and yet he still didn't suffer with his mobility or gas tank . He was a BJJ ace, winning multiple prestigious tournaments as well as being a great striker who had good hands and a variety of impressive kicks. He had tremendous raw potential and we saw a great amount of it from his tutelage at AKA, unfortunately however his pride and arrogance lead to his downfall, I guess he neglected to read Macbeth in highschool or listen to the story of Adam and Eve as a child.

The old rule said you had to tap three times so he would tap twice hoping the fighter would loosen his grip. Similar tactics still occur today. In boxing, people throw rabbit punches, or punch in the clinch when out of view of the ref. I'm sure in MMA, if they think the hand is out of view of the ref, something like that could be tried if the choices are "fake" tap or get choked out.

Weidman's corner had such a good vision of the fight. He told Chris to take Luke's hand out the way and go for the body kicks. Too bad Chris took too long to go with his advices and when he did, messed up with that spinning kick attempt that pretty much cost him the fight. Luke was a beast, beside exposing his body to kicks, he did an amazing job and deserves the victory, but it could have been much more competitive had Weidman listened more to his corner and kept his focus.

Chris lost his original drive that got him to the point of knocking out Silva and becoming champion, Chris never tested dirty, not once, he just simply lost his groove or will to stay at the top, has nothing to do with steroids.

I remember the promo for this fight, I had followed Rockhold and knew he was a beast, but I really thought Wiedman was unbeatable...boy did Rockhold make a fan of me that night, I remember the embedded or vlogs and thinking that Rockhold was being fake and that his trash talk was based on nothing just trying to sell the fight, but the hype is real its scary real

My favorite part is at the end of the video when the future Lightweight Champion and GOAT Khabib is clapping his hands and pacing in the background in excitement for his teammate winning lol

Man Rockhold looked absolutely unbeatable here, his top control was unparalleled until Khabib came along imo.

How did this man take 55 blows to the head in a matter of seconds, and got up for the next round?? Herb should’ve stopped it in the 3rd there.

It looked like Chris had incedible strength-trol (strength/control) in his grappling efforts in round 1. Thought his grappling advancements couldve played a major factor had he ultimately won the fight. it appeared that Luke was looking a little warn down when Weidman took him down in the third, but then Luke had the biggest momentum swoop of the whole fight i'd like to say, just right after he was taken down and got up.
@ryanjansen8785 Жыл бұрын
wouldn't have necesarily expected luke to be as capable of warding off chris's grappling impositions... as he was. luke's high kicks and power in his striking of the two seemed noticeable. and just when chris started to seem like he was adapting and landing some leg kicks of his own in the third, luke established himself well again.

I love your DC had to make it about him by galavanting around stage with Rockhold. Lol 🤣😅 🤣. He even looks up at the monitor to make sure he's being capture by camera. Hilarious 😂🤣 😂😆😂😆
