Idk why so many guys are acting like the ref should have called it sooner. You just aren't clear on the rules. If Wilkinson actually said "Ref, stop the fight", or anything else like that that's exactly what would have happened. Both hands on the face, moving his head, and those kicks he was throwing were enough to be considered intelligently defending and fighting back. Any fighter, at any time, can verbally submit or tap out anywhere on the cage or the mat. Also, yelling or screaming out in pain is usually considered a "verbal" submission as well. The ref did a good job. He wasn't out on his feet or anything. You guys act like fighters are locked in there against there will until the ref decides to let them out 😂

@drewcoate86714 жыл бұрын
I agree with your argument but ease off his dick a little. Threw out a few to many "of all time"'s in there. Also, "striking masterclass"?. Brunson shot for identical naked takedowns over and over because he thought izzy had no grappling and after like the 5th one izzy caught him with a knee. Hardly a masterclass, tho it was a great performance, especially from a takedown defence standpoint.

When a guy goes down to a standing hammerfist to the ribs you know he is just done. Shit I would’ve done the same but what really fucked him up was the fact that in wrestling there are no cages. Cages/fences help people get up to their feet easier and take away some of the body weight of your opponent. Israel abused the fence as he should. Normally in wrestling if you’re the person escaping you’re putting in more work, but if you have a fence helping you, then the guy attacking is fighting against you and the fence, so they’re literally draining their energy while you get little rest breaks. It makes it an even playing field. The fence it self is the reason why wrestling isn’t as overpowered in the ufc as it could be. Makes it a nice balance, this is why I like ufc.

I remember watching this fight live and in the buildup to his debut I was hearing people compare him to Anderson Silva and even Jon Jones. My first thought was, “No damn way can a guy who’s just coming in have that much ability.” Turns out I was wrong, Izzy’s striking is the best since Silva’s and his ability to keep opponents guessing with dangerous and unpredictable techniques while remaining aggressive reminds me of a young Jon Jones.
@owtkvst4 жыл бұрын
michael thomas wait what? Lol, Anderson Silva can still strike with anybody. He beat Silva in a striking match. Even now Anderson can beat 90% of the roster in a striking match. Secondly, he nearly beat Gastelum into submission in the 5th round in what was a come from behind victory. Then starched Whittaker(who was running wild on the entire division for years) flawlessly in only two rounds. Can’t deny that resume man
@owtkvst4 жыл бұрын
michael thomas also, getting “pieced up” by Gastelum is VERY debatable. Gastelum has his moments but never took control of the fight. Even the rounds Gastelum won were close
