DDP's climb through the ranks was a joke and I held it against him for the longest but I cannot any longer. Hes provided some really great fights for the division/fans and has earned his place as champ. Guy is actually pretty disciplined and shows respect when due. The cut was Sean's excuse? "It was a relatively easy fight until that cut happened".

@@getemdetric60I mean maybe not the exact same but I really don’t see what Izzy has to offer Strickland’s style in particular. Sean is kind of a counter striker’s worst nightmare because he’s never going to leave himself overextended or exposed so you have to just strike normally with him which is what he prefers. And even if he gets him in trouble we know Strickland is a better grappler and even if he hates it he is at least willing to use it to not lose a fight.

I've said it once but I'll say it again: as as South African, it's almost surreal to have a South African hold a UFC belt. Even when Dricus was doing really well in EFC and, later, KSW I could never have imagined a South African being a UFC champion in my lifetime, or at least well into my lifetime. Fast-forward three-ish years and here Dricus is, stopping Rob and Izzy. Pretty crazy, and well done to him and his team

9:53 the fact that split decisions even exist, is beyond my mind. We have to find a way to really know who won a fight. Imagine losing your belt… your status, your money printing machine, because one judge scored the fight a bit different. - Put sensors in these gloves and see who does more damage - every hit counts as a point. Harder hits give more points - add more judges. Like 15 or something. Real mma experts… - or lets choose the easiest way. We fight until someone gives up, gets knocked out, or taps. People are not gonna fight much longer than those 25 minutes anyway. Make the 5th round unlimited time or like joe rogan said, make it one 25 minutes round. Why do we even split it. Its not boxing. Imagine you finally get a takedown and then beeep the round is over, stand up again and start over… that’s dumb. This is mma

With regards to the trash talk and what DDP was saying in this video is that us as South African's roast each other badly around a braai/barbecue or just in general. South African's in general have thick skins so no amount of trash talk will effect us. We deal with so much sh*t on a daily basis that someone's words is the last thing that will bother us.

DDP got the finish, though, and in round 2, if he hadn’t slipped over Izzy after that takedown, it was looking like a TKO was coming. Sean has about a 30% finish rate, while DDP is closer to 90%. Sean could evolve his game and start mixing in takedowns. Apparently, his jiu-jitsu is solid too, but we rarely see it. Both guys have really unique styles and have managed to reach the top of the sport in their own way, which is pretty interesting. Should be a great fight!
