It feels like Max is preparing for his opponents now instead of preparing for any fighter. He prepared very well for Kattar, and prepared very well for Yair but Yair being two years away made him a little more unpredictable.

It was a good stylistic matchup for Max because Calvin doesn't kick the legs or do anything really that can shutdown Max's game. When Max snowballs his combinations, he looks to be on another level. But when someone doesn't give him those opportunities and constantly forces him to reset like what Yair and Volk did (twice), he's much less effective.

I think Max is going to try and knock Volk out, but it won’t work. Volks team is just too smart, Volk will mix up the grappling, striking and leg kicks to get the victory. I think this time Volk will grapple Max a lot more to make it closer in the judges eyes. I believe max will be coming forward trying to throw kicks to the body and up high trying to knock Volk out. I think Max will approach this fight in a desperate fight or flight mindset thinking he HAS to finish Volk to win and it’s going to backfire. Volk 48-47 or a possible finish by Volk in round 4 or 5. But that’s just my take 😬

Max definitely won the 2nd fight but the UFC definitely wanted Volk to win for a trilogy.

It would have been 1-1 and a trilogy still would have been on the cards. On top of that, Dana was overtly upset Max lost. Max just got fucked up for 5 rounds. No more arguments, Alex is better and this fight proved it.
