Conor’s biggest issue is he lost what made his standup game good. He adopted a boxing heavy style and became heavy on his feet. He use to be light on his feet and use his kicks to create distance and set up strikes and the pace of the fight.
@TheFN19 Жыл бұрын
he seemed to lose a lot of his speed in his recent fights compared to his 145 run. idk if its also bec of him going up in weight or also a result of him being heavy on his feet

@@TheFN19 I think its definitely him going up in weight and his cardio getting compromised as the result. The cut to 145 wouldve been detrimental to his health if he kept it up as he aged.
@bomboclaatpunaniman9387 Жыл бұрын
@@TheFN19definitely because he changed up his style, arguably his best performance was against Eddie at 155 and he looked lightning fast in that fight. He boxed Floyd and fell in love with boxing, thinking that he can bring that back to MMA. After he fought Floyd is when that sparring video came out of Conor using that new high guard, planted feet, boxing heavy style and you see him get hit loads by his sparring partner. It's got barely anything to do with the weight. him light on his feet, unpredictable and pressuring his opponent into running into that straight left is by far the best Conor we've seen and he threw all of that out the window for a style that doesn't seem to work nearly as well
@themarketm8382 Жыл бұрын
Conor's style was never compatible with the new era of calf kicks. Look at his stance vs Aldo, Alvarez etc... in this era he would have been chewed up before he got into boxing range
@marwin4348 Жыл бұрын
MMA evolved a lot, the level back then was much lower. His style would not work as well anymore. He expends way too much energy doing wild kicks that don't do a lot of damage and hes very vulnerable to calf kicks.

Just as an FYI for those who may not know, Max was about 22 years old here and Conor was 26 I think, Max was relatively fresh and Conor was entering his prime. Yes, Max's win streak commenced after this fight but I think most fans agree, his prime wouldn't commence until the Cub Swanson fight which took place two years after this. But man you can really see how much Max's style evolved over the years, sucks we never got to see prime Max vs prime Conor.

Neither for or against Connor McGregor… but love him or hate him the excitement around his fights was real. Even if he was overhyped like many say, the energy around that man undeniable. Even if you despise the man, hIs rise up the ladder was wild.

Overhyped ???? Aldo Alvarez Mendes Diaz Poirier Cerrone Holloway Mayweather (1st ever professional boxing match against one of the best ever) Just to name a few..... X2 times UFC champ. x2 times Cage warriors champ. ESPN fighter of the year (A few times). Highest PPV's in MMA history PLUS one of the highest PPV's in BOXING history. Overhyped ???? ..... Anyone say that, are casual!!! He isn't the Connor of old, and never will be again, 200 million does that to a person. But when he was on form, between 2013 and 2017 I believe...he was unstoppable.

Conor Mcgregor is the most entertaining fighter in UFC history by far
@ravilution7 ай бұрын
One guy plays a major role in his son's life, likes to be around his family in his hometown, and trains and fights regularly. The other one left his kids with his wife at home so he could party, took a woman into a public restroom at a sports arena while surrounded by cameras, smashed a windshield and injured fighters inside of a bus, and got involved in all other kinds of public scandals. Connor has all the skills to be champ material had he chosen to live a different life.

Here after Topuria KO'd Max...but seeing how superior Conor was just shows you levels...Topuria vs Max was like 70-30 for Ilia. But Conor vs Max was a 95-5 for Conor...no chance for Max to do anything but defend himself, and that's why Conor didn't finish him...Against Topuria, Max was also throwing believing he could win.

Look at this fighting style of Connor. Beautiful and successful. The kicking, the variation and the unpredictability caused problems for everyone on his path. Nowadays, he’s way too immobile and too focused on boxing. Such a pity he lost all of that.
