deep down it hurts izzy. knowing that DDP has a point, "first REAL african champion born, bred, training in africa". Izzy, usman, francis all left and never put an African MMA gym on the map and bring the belt back home to LIVE there. They are all USA, New Zealand or France made champs of african descent. So the only thing izzy has is to point to race. Pathetic. esp when Leon Edwards gets to rep england as its first English made and living champ, while Bisping trained out of USA and lived there as champ.

Strictly talking about Dricus, Dricus has been a lifelong martial artist. Started Judo at the age of 5 and then went on to compete at the national level becoming the national Judo champion. He wanted to get away from the gi competition so first tried wrestling and then became a kickboxer where he went on to become a 30-0 Kickboxing champion. He also is a former Rugby player like Volk. He went to EFC first for his first MMA promotion and then became a double champion in EFC. He then moved on to Polish promotion called KSW and became the champion in KSW before getting into UFC where he has not lost a single fight since his debut. As a matter of fact, last time he lost was in 2018. He has beaten several UFC ranked opponents. Not many people know, he competes in elite level BJJ competitions. He faced the entire Gracier Barra BJJ team and it was 1 vs all of the team. He went one by one through the entire Gracie Barra BJJ team and submitted each and everyone one of them.

I think people are underestimating the potential Du Plessis has to be a HUGE star in the UFC. He has alllllll the ingredients, the look, the skills, the fighting style, and most importantly the intelligence and ability to speak well and be very quick witted in pressure situations like all the press and promotion leading up to a fight

I work with traumatized kids in foster care and seeing Strickland who overcame all of his struggles to become a world champion is so inspiring and gives me hope for these kids. You can’t help but be inspired. Also, UFC countdown is amazing!

As an African i honestly feel that Africa should root for Dricus du Plessis not Izzy. "I'm African but ain't no brother of yours son" that line left me in stitches 😂😂.
